Pros +

  • Small and busy little hotel. Great location in the middle of everything, so a short walk to many places. Rooms were small, but quiet which was a great surprise considering how much activity there was outside. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was plentiful and set out buffet style with lots of items. The bar area is very attractive and great for spending a few hours. The pool is a walk away and looked lovely, though we did not manage to use it.
  • Nice colonial hotel, very central position. I can see why it has so many good reviews, but somehow overrated (see what I didn't like). The bar has a really nice setting. Staff was really nice and helped us find transport back to Dakar (Dem Dikk was fully booked and private cars extremely expensive - but they advices on which transport to use - minivan - and the recommendation was spot on).
  • The buffet breakfast was very good. Very friendly staff.

Cons -

  • There was no availability of double room and we were given a twin room: even when pushing the beds next to each other is far from comfortable. The room looks old school and could do with some renovation (forget the "it's part of the charme" of the hotel... it could really do with some love): bathroom has no window makes the room smell like dump after shower. Beddings makes the room look even older (you can see form pictures). The floor of the room would be so much better if it was in wood, rather than tiles. Restaurant slightly overprices (glad we discovered restaurant right next door for the second day). Roof terrace too quiet and windy to be even considered for either breakfast of a night cup. Breakfast is ok (continental breakfast, with possibility of getting omelette)
