Location, breakfast, pool and staff

Looks a bit aged in certain areas. Our room door was shakey, balcony could use fresh paint.

The best feature for me was the direct lake access via small jetty right in front of the hotel. From there directly to the sauna which was already open early in the morning. Generally could use a good renovation. Staff were very friendly.

Quite dated

The room we were given in was outstanding with an exquisite view over Lake Saimaa. This was the best view we had from a hotel in our trip through Scandinavia. The staff was very accommodating and the breakfast had a large variety! The location of the hotel was perfect.

Our room was large and well-equipped. The restaurant is very good, and breakfast was a bit busy but very good quality and diverse.However, THE big advantage of the hotel is its location: it is connected to other islands by bridges, and you can do wonderful walks in nature. We also swam in the lake (VERY nice experience), and rented a canoe to paddle around the islands nearby - which was simply gorgeous.

No complaints about the room, but the hotel overall made a bit of a tired impression. It dates back to 1969, which has its charms, but the outside of the building and the corridors could do with a bit of freshening up.

The breakfast is excellent, and also the dinner that we had at the restaurant.The room was big and clean, with very nice views to the lake.Great location.

The swimming-pool is not always open.

The pool. So poor. Evening hours should be without children. People in the pool with the beer in glasses!!! Not clean in changing area.

Location, food, pool were very good.

A small desk and chair in the room would help me have a suitable place to use a laptop.

Good location, beautiful scenery and walking distance to downtown.

Easy access from train station, great that SPA, gym and breakfast are included in the price.

The water in the SPA was a bit cold.

Beautiful location, tranquillity, fabulous room, cleanliness, eye-pleasing design, exquisite dinner of local fish, great views of the river and city lights on a darkening snowy winter's day, topped by the spa, a relaxing dip in the pool and heat of the sauna.

Upon arrival, vehicle access is limited, but luckily, there's plenty of parking space in the huge lot over the road.

I love that there is a pet friendly Spa Hotel. The room was clean and spacious. The spa area was not huge, but there was a nice little pool, whirlpool and sauna. The breakfast was very nice! The location is good, close to the city center but you can have nice walks in the area.

I had accidentally booked through booking.com, the wrong room which did not fit three people as I would have needed. It was not possible to change rooms, so we had to book an additional room, it felt odd and stupid that this new room accommodated three people. I understand that a room may not be cancelled but I assume, that in many other hotels, as there was availability, my problem would have been somehow sorted with me paying some extra for the original room to receive the slightly bigger three person room. The hotel in general is a bit outdated and pricey for it's standard.

Large and comfortable room with view on the lake. Excellent shower. Great buffet style breakfast.

The bar and restaurant have an outdated (seventies) style, but that is part of the charm of this hotel.

Location was good - very short walk over pedestrian bridge into town

Location. Savonlinna is famously short on accommodation to serve the visitors to its glorious opera festival. Fabulous spot also to dive into the pristeen blue lake (saimaa?).

Market pricing of course in july but it still is a liberty to charge 400eur for such a hideously dated room that is more akin to a cheap student dorm. In desperate need of renovation.
