Pros +
- The staff was really kind during check-in despite the machine not recognizing my credit card, then i suggested them to bring another one and it worked. Make sure to get a room with a street view
- It's a nice hotel, good room and bathroom, large bed, minibar, laptop safe box, good cleaning. Its height and good location is something to come back for (book high floor!).Several nice bars and restaurants just downstairs and across the green square.I recommend The Best Market across the square - a convenience store to buy whatever you need.
- The property provided good value for money, especially in relation to the price we paid.
Cons -
- The hotel is quite run down. The first thing I saw when I went in was a giant mold mark on the wall next to the door. The carpet looked dirty, so I kept my shoes on at all times, the balcony could use a power wash. The towels were rough and thin. The bathtub is yelling for a recoat. All these things made me suspicious about the overall cleanliness
- The slowest checking-in ever. I guess they have to fill some huge form or smth.Basic breakfast, unripe fruit, disgusting coffee. Our balcony door was broken. Nobody came to fix it.
- The property is located in an area that feels unsafe, with many beggars on the surrounding streets. Additionally, the reception staff did not speak English, and the Wi-Fi did not work at all.

Excellent breakfast and location. Very authentic São Paulo experience in old downtown.
A bit outdated facilities but very comfortable beds.
Fantastic breakfast selection (best scrambled eggs during my whole trip), quiet room, great location, very comfortable king sized bed, nice balcony overlooking the neighborhood, good room service, bathtub (instead of just a shower) was appreciated, later than normal checkout time (12PM)
Bathtub was extremely worn and scratched, nothing like the photos, still appreciated it and the shower was nice. Very limited exercise room, only two pieces of equipment. Walls and doors had lots of marks on them, needs new paint.
The hotel has a lot of great qualities. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with an excellent bed that made resting a real pleasure. The location is convenient, and the facilities overall are modern and well-kept, which really added to the experience.
The room size and bed were absolutely amazing – very spacious, clean, and comfortable, making the stay pleasant in terms of accommodation. However, the security at the entrance was extremely disappointing. Each time I returned to the hotel, both I and my guest were over-checked in a way that felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. To make things worse, the hotel charges a R$100 fee for visitors, and it honestly seemed like security staff might be benefiting from this, which left a very negative impression. While the facilities are great, the guest experience is seriously impacted by these security practices.
Its staff and service are excellent. 100% value for money. The location is excellent, that is, for those like me who enjoys staying in São Paulo city centre - Galeria do Rock, Farol Santander, the 'historical triangle', cultural centres, cafés - all within easy walking distance. Metro stations nearby. The buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner are very good.

Big room with balcony and nice city view. Everything was fine.
The area is run down in the old downtown Sao Paulo.... there are lots of policeman around the hotel outside in the street to protect the people. The hotel inside is outdated and needs renovation, but the breakfast has lots of different varieties to choose from and are freshly made and delicious, the restaurant manager works hard to provide a great breakfast experience. I really enjoyed their breakfast. The shower was great.... the beds comfy and the blankets fresh from the laundry and still had their plastic bags on.
Maybe some renovation
Excellent Breakfast from 6 AM ! Hotel situated near Plaza República (Metro) and near Airport Shuttle. Supermarkets everywhere. Helpful staff 24 hours. Large rooms with good views.
Breakfast good but for a tea drinker like myself a little complex. Room great and plenty of hot water. Great location
Used the laundry service and this got lost in translation as was very expensive. Use the laundry service just round the corner which we found later. There is limited English spoken here
Nightmare stay
From the cockroaches to the mould, and the lack of health and safety to the ancient decor. Horrible experience
Very good value for money. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

I had a nice view from 19th level of hotel. They have a nice paid restaurant where you can order a la carte menu, very good.
Not so good for a 4star hotel, poor breakfast with weak and horrible tasting coffee. There was dirty on the floor of the room and bathroom, it could only be swept with a broom, it was not washed, the bed mattress was crooked...Gym was 2 machines but old and broke... not so helpful.Next time i will chose a better hotel.
Hotel is located quite conveniently near the very center of Sao Paulo.Views from the upper floors are rather nice.Included breakfast was okay.Quite inexpensive.
Hotel promises check-in from 14.00. As we arrived from the flight a little earlier (13.00), we left our luggage in the hotel, to get some lunch. We returned 14.15, were made to wait in reception que of 4 people for 40 minutes (!!) just to be told, that our room was still not ready! We finally got our room 16.00 and to compensate the situation the receptionist gave me and my partner coupon for ONE free drink in hotel restaurant. If it is not possible to quarantee 14.00 check in, the hotel should really state it and I personally would not mind if the check in was 16.00. It was just untolerable that we were made to sit and wait. The other thing is quality of rooms.Although spacious, the rooms are really old and have been renovated very poorly. Especially the bathroom. The walls and ceiling in the shower were covered with mold, the curtain just filthy. There was a nice message on the wall to encourage saving water, but shower taps and toilet were leaking uncontrollably (and it appeared, that they were leaking quite a bit of time) making the effort on my hand pointless!AC units in the wall were so loud, that we couldn't run them while inside the room. They kept making noises even when we turned them off and the noise really disturbed the sleep.
Hotel staff was not competent
Asked for a quiet room and gave me a noisy oneMaybe every toom faced the busy street
Price
Cockroaches in the bathroom, dirty linens, beaten mattress, dirty rotten carpets
Only the location and breakfast were good...
The room was old and windows leaking air and cupboards do not close properly...everything was old and overused including very noisy and loud AC..carpets on floor are all stained...bathroom very old with faucets, and this reservation was for a suite...very disappointed till they changed my suite to upper floors were the suite was better but no where near a 4 star hotel rating they claim they have...
I have lodged at San Raphael on other occasions, I love that hotel. It is cool, the employees are nice, the bed are great and the rooms and toilets are spacious.
Breakfast should be included in the discount and booking via this site.
The location and its staff both contribute to ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming experience.
The building/rooms' structural maintenance has been neglected. There are small issues that a handyman could address on a daily basis, such as fixing the squeaking room closets hinges, curtain tracks, and terrace doors with WD40. Additionally, there is a table lamp without a wall plug to connect it and spare international converter plugs to accommodate USB cell phones/computers. These are all minor tasks that a daily handyman could easily take care of.
