Monkey Valley Resort

Liked the living area,bedrooms and braai facilities.Cleanliness on point and everything was in place.

The omission of a dedicated pool for staying customers,no privacy when swimming and the pool is in constant shade. A designated pool would make this property 5 star,as the sea is off limits.

View was amazing, breakfast was scrumptious & room was perfect!

Tranquility during the week. Easy access to the vast beach. Close enough to the Nordhoek Village Market for a nice walk.

The cottage was cold as it is in the shade when the sun is up. With the fireplace, the wood provided would not light (no combination of fire starters and kindling worked) so it was difficult to stay in except for sleeping.

The setting is absolutely gorgeous and the staff was friendly and helpful.

The setting is so beautiful, and the milkwoods really stunning. The rooms are beautiful and quaint. Monkey Valley is a very special place.

Everyone is very friendly and lovely. At times it feels like there is a lack of attention to detail though which is a bit of a shame.

The cabin was much bigger than we expected and all the wood had recently been varnished, so it felt nice and new. The upstairs views were gorgeous, and the foresty location made it feel very peaceful at night. Lots of space for families or groups of friends traveling together, and there is a restaurant brewery and wine shop just ten minutes walking.

Breakfast was awesome. Staff were excellent.

The picture advertised for the room was misleading. Balconies are on top of each other so no privacy when sitting outside having a chat. The doors to the balcony can open, but to close them is a challenging effort if you are a shorter person. The TV remote was not in the room. There could have been a fan in the room.

I enjoyed the whole venue. There is a good ambiance. Loved the setting...The staff were great. Friendly and efficient. Food waa tasty, and portions were sufficient. Breakfast was great.

No toiletries in room. Half eaten tray of blackberries in fridge. But I am just being picky.

Accommodation was fine and view was great although somewhat restricted. Food in restaurant was average.

Not what I remember from a few years ago. Albatross chalet starting to look a bit run down and in need of upgrade.

The location

The staff was uninterested to say the least. The rooms were nothing like the pictures / everything was run down and bathrooms were barely functional. luckily it was only the three of us even though we had initially booked for six- only two small bathrooms ( one en suite so not accessible for other occupants )for a unit that was advertised for 6 people) Some towels were actually so dirty we couldn’t use them. There was only 1 shower and the second bathroom only had a bathtub with no water pressure whatsoever. No ice trays in the freezer and we had to pay for a bag of ice - which was ridiculous considering the price we paid for accommodations. There was a lot of load shedding during the weekend when one lamp on a passage worked - there were no Andre’s or torches. When we checked in we asked about how to get back on Sunday as the cycle race was on and were told by staff it wouldn’t be a problem. The directions we were given turned out yo be wrong and we ended up waiting for over an hour in a car at an intersection before some kind and helpful security person allowed us ( against the rules) to cross the intersection even they was a short pause neuen bicycles - which was quite dangerous to tell the truth. Overall the location was great and accommodation would have even acceptable for maybe half the price.

A beautiful view.

The advertising certainly did not reflect the actual accommodation. Poor service, the premises was not even close to what the website shows and the breakfast was dissapointing. Also, Monkey Valley advertise for two pools - none of which was pleasant or inviting. It was dirty and had not been maintained. The bartender gave us the wrong order and was not apologenic after waiting for our order for a very long time.

Location is stunning

Rooms need to be upgraded, no fan or aircon in the room. Staff were not friendly, we had to carry our own bags to our room. Staff at the restaurant were also poorly trained. Breakfast was not set up nicely, had to wait 15mins for a piece of toast. This resort can really do so much better

Friendly staff an nice location.

Rat in the restaurant. NO remote for AC, when we asked for one we were told the AC didn't work anyway. No remote for TV, eventually given one which didn't work.Food in restaurant rather average.
