    • Absolutely wonderful bed & breakfast -- The care and attention given to the smallest detail from arrival to departure is appreciated. Allen and his crew did an a excellent job and I'm going to miss this charming place (and the Michelin-tier breakfasts!!).
    • We loved our stay at Hotel Lola. The rooms are all beautifully decorated and the location was great. We especially enjoyed Russell's amazing breakfasts and appreciated being given recommendations for our first time visiting Cape town! We would definitely stay again!
    • I can't say enough about this place or the wonderful guys who run it. From the first time I visited (April, 2024), I was made to feel like a part of a family. I was greeted at the door and assisted with my luggage (as minimal as it was) up to my room. Russell and Allen LOVE what they do, and it shows in so many ways. You're not staying at a fancy Hilton hotel. It's more like you're staying at you're best friend's house or the place in the country that you always look forward to getting away to. It's the little touches that make all the difference.I could go on and on, but the crème de la crème of your stay is the breakfast that you recieve in the morning to start your day. It is beyond compare. Fresh squeezed juices with the pulp, your selection of whatever type of coffee beverage that you desire, and a delicious yogurt fruit salad made that morning topped with Allen's homemade granola. That is just for starters. You then receive the main course, which changes daily. Russell is an amazing chef.As I mentioned before, these guys LOVE what they do and they want you to have the best stay possible in Cape Town. They are more than happy to tell you not only where to go, but the best way to get there. I left there yesterday and I'm already looking forward to traveling around the globe from Seattle to spend more time at their place.Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I pretty much ate all the fresh baked cookies they left out every day.........

    Cons -

    • N/a, everything was perfect!!
    • The fact that I don't spend a week or more staying here......
    • Loved it

Russell and Alan are amazing hosts. The location was even better than I expected and within very easy walking distance of the V and A waterfront area. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe walking around. Russell was especially helpful in recommending restaurants, making a dinner reservation at Riva restaurant and providing helpful tips. The breakfast were beyond exceptional. The hotel room was small, but very comfortable and met my needs.. There are also common areas and outdoor seating that I loved.

    Loved it

The hotel has a distinctive pleasant character; retro/vintage style, and it gives a real homey feeling. But the real deal is Russel -the proprietor- and his gang, Russell is probably the most hospitable person I have ever seen throughout my extensive travel life, he goes the extra mile to make the guest feel like family, not just a friend. Secondary to that, the location is brilliant.Absolutely commendable, should be tried by everyone traveling to Cape Town.

Amazing breakfast and beautiful, interesting rooms. Very warm and friendly hosts as well. Wish I could’ve spent more time there than just one night.

Breakfast was the most special we've ever enjoyed. It was like having a meal in a royal palace with lovely china, classic, vintage pressed linens including napkins for our laps and napkins wrapped around the delicious, seeded toast to keep it warm. We were served graciously and elegantly with delicacies brought in on a tray. We stayed four nights and every breakfast was a gourmet work of art. The starter of yogurt, chopped fresh fruit, and granola slabs set the stage. The eggs and potatoes were served piping hot and creatively presented with the perfect balance of flavor and color. There was fresh grapefruit and orange juices pressed from the fruits of Russell's and Alan's farm. Homemade jams included lime marmelade and grapefruit marmelade. It was all exquisite, including piping hot cappuchino. We stayed in the luxury king suite with the private balcony, where we often enjoyed glasses of Cape Town wine and take-out pizza. Supplying glasses and cutlery were only some of the extras that Hotel Lola provided for us. There was always someone to help or guide us. We enjoyed bathing in the sumptious big tub and sleeping on the most comfortable mattress. There is so much to experience and look at in this delightfully eclectic, vintage, and artfully furnished guest house. Communications with Russell were always prompt, kind, and informational. It is walking distance to the colorful BoKaap neighborhood, Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Company Garden, and Greenmarket Square. Service is apparent in all ways. We sing high praises of our time at Hotel Lola!

Only one tiny thing: the very vintage desk chair.

I liked everything from this place. The friendliness, kindness, service of staff and especially of Russell. Super clean, the building where the hotel is, it’s around 200 years old, but very well maintained, decoration is super nice, beautiful furnitures and even plates use for breakfast makes you feel that you are in another era. Super warm and cozy, and as I am a world traveler I strongly RECOMMEND this place. Location the best, everything is so close by, high security and above ALL which I will never forget is the breakfast. Delicious, tasting, healthy. THANK YOU FOR THE WONDERFUL STAY. Definitely I will come back to South Africa and Cape Town and this is going to be my ONLY choice ❣️

It was a fun place with a comfortable bed and great hosts. The breakfasts were exceptional

A standing shower would have been convenient, but the tub with a hand shower worked fine and fit the decor

Hotel Lola in Capetown is a wonderful hotel and I would recommend it to anyone visiting. The hotel is beautifully deocrated and very unique as well as having wonderful facilities and being very clean. The location of the hotel is perfect, being a short walk away from the waterfront and lots of lovely restaurants and a quick taxi ride further into the centre. The owner Russell is wonderful at making you feel welcome and for suggestions on what to do in Capetown. The best part of Hotel Lola is the breakfast every morning made from scratch for the guests. I loved my stay at hotel Lola and recommend staying here to everyone!

This is an old building that has been thoughtfully updated as a unique and welcoming place to land.

I really liked it; however it has lots of stairs, so make sure you're okay with that.

I liked everything. They brought our luggage upstairs for us, greeted us with wine and nuts and made dinner reservations for us. The staff was very attentive and went so far as to wait outside the gate with us for our car to arrive. The breakfast was beyond amazing! We would definitely stay there again.

    No complaints whatsoever

Quirky hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Fabulous breakfast. Easy walking distance to Waterfront.

    9JuliePosted on: 4-14-2025

What a joy.. the breakfast was amazing.. home made yogurt and muesli, fruit and shakshouka. The rooms, each unique, comfortable bed and hot shower, clean and quiet. Russell and Fatima were friendly and helpful and very accomodating. Helped with luggage as no lift

Love the place, Allen and his friend Wayne were so pleasant. The decoration is very original, it feels like you at staying at a friend's place in CT. Pity we did not have the chance to have breakfast. We will come back!

The breakfasts were always a highlight. Real definition of heartwarming food!!!! I have not eaten such a good and fresh breakfast in any hotel. The hosts and staff were very friendly. We definitely felt at home, very welcome right up to our departure moment. It was a bit emotional to leave the place which became our home for 4 days. The B&B was also within walking distance to a range of other restaurants as well as the V&A waterfront and the Stadium.

A very minor one!!! Although the B&B theme is centered around antique feel and giving you an experience from the past, I recommend refreshing some few things like carpets and mattresses with newer ones which don’t show signs of wearing out yet maintaining the theme. A squeaky mattress with a slight movement made me a bit uncomfortable as I am a light sleeper.

    10MaryPosted on: 4-12-2025

The owners’ attention and dedication to providing the best quality experience is wonderful. Russel and Alan truly care for their guests! The hotel is quirky, atmospheric and authentic. Location is just a short walk to the V & A Waterfront. The food is amazing-innovative, fresh, healthy, all home cooked. Homemade bread, jams, relishes-just delicious. We loved our stay and wouldn’t dream of staying anywhere else if in Cape Town!

Showering in the bath in the bedroom…needed a little shower screen. Nothing else-it was pretty perfect!

Lovely place to stay for a 2-day trip in Cape Town and very convenient (and safe!) location for visiting all major sites.. Overall, this little boutique hotel was a treat. Extremely welcoming and friendly owners, impeccable attention to detail, spacious and clean room full of character, very comforable bed, and breakfasts that were simply sublime.
