About
Tucked away on a large, private estate overlooking Camps Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, this boutique hotel combines stunning views with first-class facilities. Nestled against the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range, Camps Bay Retreat Hotel is the ideal choice for guests looking to explore Cape Town in style. Wake up to the sound of rolling waves. Whether you stay in the old manor or modern annex, ocean views are ensured at all times. Privacy and tranquility are guaranteed at Camps Bay Retreat, thanks to the small number of guest rooms and natural setting. Stroll over the estate and discover waterfalls and mountains streams. Alternatively, you can have a swim in the outdoor pool or soak up the sun on your balcony. Why not treat yourself to a delicious meal on the veranda. While you indulge in seasonal specialties, the attentive staff can organize a rental car, reserve various day trips or see to it that your laundry is taken care of before your next Padel match. Turn-down service further complements your stay. Deck Rooms can be reached via a swing bridge and impress with their modern furnishings, glass front and open-plan design. Enjoy a bath in your free-standing bath or marvel at sea views from one of your balconies. Rooms in the manor boast a more traditional interior and feature elegant antique furnishings.

Pros +
- I absolutely loved my stay at Camps Bay Retreat. Every detail — from the lush surroundings to the impeccable amenities — felt next-level. My villa with the wood-fired hot tub was pure perfection, and the views made it hard to leave. The spa’s Grape Therapy Massage package was easily one of the best treatments I’ve had anywhere — deeply relaxing and beautifully done. The food was consistently five-star — fresh, flavorful, and worthy of a fine-dining experience. The entire property feels like a secret sanctuary tucked away from the world, yet close enough to explore Cape Town. Truly unforgettable — I can’t wait to come back.
- Stayed at the main building. It’s a historical masterpiece from a bygone era. The room was gorgeous with three balconies and a sea view. Many thanks to Damien, Janine, Benson and last but not least Shafeka from housekeeping. Thank you to all the staff members of the hotel and restaurant for the great service and for providing us with the necessary assistance when we needed it. Hope to see you all very soon.
- The location of the hotel, the view from the room, the comfort of the room and the building's old world elegance combined with an attentive and helpful staff helped make our stay exceptional.

location very goodbreakfast limited no varieties the three bed room apartement is excellenti did not recommend the rooms in old building dark and just above the kitchen no view
Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of incredible. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we had entered a nature oasis. The property is stunning—lush, peaceful, and meticulously maintained. Our room was hands down the best we've ever stayed in. We were blown away by the space, comfort, and luxury—it had everything we could have asked for and more. A private pool, a hot tub, front and back porches, and even a cozy fireplace made it feel like our own personal retreat. The service was outstanding, and the staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was a highlight, with a delicious spread that included fresh-squeezed orange juice and stunning views of the ocean—what a way to start the day!The hotel itself is beautiful, with incredible attention to detail in every corner. Whether it was the design, the decor, or the small touches that made everything feel extra special, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and recharge. We can’t recommend this hotel enough. It’s a true hidden gem, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
Everything. Perfect location. Beautiful views from the room and breakfast/dinner location. Everything you’d want on property. Fun hanging bridge. Gardens to walk through. Very safe with security. Amazing breakfast. Incredible staff.
Smallest details would be the shower tended to spill water onto the floor so you’d need ample towels to soak it up.
Great location, great views, nice outdoor setting. That’s was the property had going for it. Rooms are quite nice too and shower had good pressure.
Inattentive service at main facility, lack of a welcoming environment, staff appear displeased, lack of ambience. Put this all down to a lack of management. Food choices at breakfast limited. No one approaches you or welcomes you when you appear for breakfast, instead staff are congregating and gossiping. Main facility appears a bit dated too and smells of incense. Also wish at check in, that staff would’ve been a bit more engaging and explained the services and facilities available and that there was a gym available at The Bay Hotel. This was not explained and we did not get to use these facilities.
Wonderful hotel with spacious rooms. some interesting extras like a hanging bridge and paths through the big gardens make it special. Breakfast was very nice with a lot of options. 24/7 security and CCTV.
Beautiful location, amazing breakfast, stunning Padel court and we loved the bridge every morning!
A gem in the City. Fabulous setting, finest detailed room. While walking through the garden and forest you discover something around every corner eg the SPA pods, nature pool, indigenous plants and trees, the hanging bridge over the ravine, and a padel court. Absolutely love everything about The Campsbay Retreat
location
the staff are not interested , i asked to be notified when my room was ready , did not happen , i requested luggage collection twice was told someone was on their way , 20 min later carried my own luggage , my parcel left at reception could not be found , even after confirming its there ahead of pick up . i now have to send someone a second time. i booked based on the hot tub in pics, i queried on checking in that it doesnt look private and that people above can look directly into our tub, i was told thats not the case , that night the above guests came to check on us with their cell phone lights , not as described .
Staff were so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Loved the rooms, esp the wood fired hot tub, and we played our first game of padel here!
Beautiful grounds with exceptional view from the main manor. Beach and restaurants 10 mins away. Location is awesome ??
Gorgeous villa, with amazing views, lovely staff & nice spa treatments
The rooms are most comfortable beds pillow and amenities provided ..A great breakfast in the Manor House ....Best sunset views
The best hotel stay ever! We loved our stay, we had friends at The Bay.The Retreat is far more authentic, traditional and gorgeous. A very special location a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag. The room was incredible - up in the tree canopy! The food, drinks and service were off the scale - I’d rate this as an 11 if I could!
All absolutely fantastic!
Position
Rickety bridge and dangerous walk from main hotel to room. The staff in the restaurant were totally untrained and did not speak English ehought to explain certain elementary things
Location is great. Walking distance to beach and restaurants of Camps Bay. Views are lovely and the gardens are quite special. Staff are super friendly and helpful.
Rooms are tired.
The hotel and room #1 we stayed in was exceptional. The accommodations, the views and the grounds were incredible and charming. We actually extended our stay to come back and enjoy this hotel on our second leg of our travels.
Restaurant service could be a bit faster, sometimes it felt like we had to go to the bar to get service, but it was always nice and friendly.
The grounds were beautiful and the setting idyllic
Lazy staff or poorly really did let this property down. Really wasn’t a 5 star service. Breakfast service is a complete joke and how can they keep saying they are out of things even a simple Coke Zero. Mental.
