Derwent House Boutique Hotel was the perfect place for my visit to Cape Town. The location is fantastic - can walk to most of the most interesting sites, and it is near a street filled with restaurants, coffee shops, music venues, etc.. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and the rooms have everything one could need. The complementary breakfasts were outstanding with numerous choices each morning, and they also put out a soup and some other food, along with wine and other drinks for guests to later in the afternoon. Add to that a pool and views overlooking Table Mountain, and an extraordinarily friendly staff - this place can't be beat!!
A charming small hotel, beautifully appointed and decorated. Wonderful, attentive staff that goes out of their way to make your stay even better than you thought possible. Ready with incredible recommendations and arrangements.Wonderful breakfasts, cozy night caps and cake by the wood burning fireplace.Room 4 has Table Mountain views from 4 windows! The ambience of this place is the best we have ever experienced.
That we had to leave.
The staff are all incredible- very friendly, helpful and fun… always there when you need them but it never felt intrusive. The breakfast was over the top wonderful!! The complimentary afternoon tea and sweets (even delicious soup!) was such a nice extra. Our room was so comfortable and equipped with everything we could want (and more!). In a lovely area. We had heard of high crime in Cape Town but never felt even remotely unsure of safety. There is someone on staff present 24/7, a locked gate and even a guard that patrols outside in the evening and will escort youbto a nearby restaurantnif you don’t opt for Uber. We took Uber everywhere, since they are quick, reliable, safe and inexpensive. Stay at Derwent, it is lovely!!
My daughter and I absolutely loved our stay at the Derwent House for so many reasons, the main one being the amazing staff. The entire team at Derwent house showed such graciousness and warmth during both of our stays. Felt like we were coming home to old friends who were happy to see us every time we walked in the door. The property itself is beautiful - tons of natural light, colorful and fun furnishings and decor, great location within walking distance to shops and restaurants. There were plenty of delicious breakfast options on the menu every morning, and we enjoyed all of them! I'd love to come back to Cape Town just to stay here again.
We only had a short stay, but I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a boutique experience in Cape Town. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle, it offers stunning views of Table Mountain and a peaceful atmosphere. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the staff went above and beyond—truly exceptional service from start to finish.
A Truly Exceptional Stay – Highly Recommended! We had a fantastic stay at Derwent House Boutique Hotel! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the warm and personal service provided by the entire team, led by the wonderful Luca. Everyone made us feel right at home.A special thank you to Anahid, who gave us excellent recommendations for local places to visit and dine – every suggestion was spot on and added so much to our experience. One of the highlights of our trip was a tour with Trish, an amazing guide arranged through the hotel. Her knowledge and enthusiasm made it a truly memorable outing. Our room was beautifully decorated and had a stunning view of Table Mountain – waking up to that every morning was a dream. Breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, with a great variety each day. We also loved the thoughtful touches like the complimentary soup and cakes served at night, and the attentive day and night turndown service.Derwent House went above and beyond in every way. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality. We would return in a heartbeat!
Spotless property with nice amenities. The staff were incredible, attentive, knowledgeable, and always willing to help us. Would highly suggest and would stay here again when visiting. Location is also fabulous walking distance from many bars and restaurants!
The location is so perfect you can walk to get dinner and drinks and the staff are incredibly helpful. Also loved the free snack and soup in the evening. The hot tub was also a nice extra touch.
We stayed 5 nights. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfasts were excellent. Several little extras such as acknowledging our anniversary, nighttime treats etc were unexpected and lovely. Decor was bright and fun.
One of the best places I have ever stayed and can fully recommend it to any age no matter if you tavel alone? In a group or with family.Small hotel with an eye for the detail. Nothing to compare with the bigger ones.Super friendly and helpful staff.Day started with healthy breakfast followed by homebaked cake and wine bar set up in the afternoon. Centered and secure location
Everything was perfect!
Well decorated. Exceptionally clean, great breakfast. Fantastic staff. Overall, we loved our stay and would recommend highly.
Room was a bit small but the outdoor space and the lobby were very nice to sit in. Lighting in the room was not great. Good reading lights in bed are important given that there is not a chair to read in. The overhead light was dim too. At night and when the curtains were closed, it was a bit too dark for us to see.
A warm, friendly welcome from Luca set the tone for a very enjoyable stay. Nothing was too much trouble and the team made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Our upgraded room was spotlessly clean and well equipped and we enjoyed the luxury of having a lounge area to relax in, although our bedroom was a little small.Breakfast each morning was excellent with plenty of choice. The pool is a good size with comfortable sun loungers, perfect for whiling away a few hours in the sun.The hotel is ideally placed a short walk from Kloof Street which has a fantastic selection of cafes, bars and restaurants.A special mention to Luca who went above and beyond in organising an Uber to deliver a forgotten Kindle to the airport before our flight departed. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
The bedroom was a little on the small side.
Great location, spacious room, good beds
Excellent small private hotel in Cape Town. Lovely part of the city that felt safe for a solo traveller and easy access to Uber Black to the main part of the city and attractions. Lovely team of staff that are friendly and help with all your questions. Lovely breakfast each morning and rooms look exactly as depicted in the photos. Highly recommend.
Hospitality was wonderful, food excellent and decor great. Located under Table Mountain, nothing was more than a 15 minu
Lovely part of the city, slightly away from the centre but easily accessible. Very friendly, helpful staff. Light, spacious apartment fully equipped with everything needed for a short stay. Very comfortable bed.
Honestly it was fantastic, we stayed between Christmas and New Year so a busy time for the Team but Patience, Luca, Tash Gladice and the whole team were exceptional. The rooms, the atmosphere, the food and the location are all amazing. I genuinely can't tell you what an amazing gem of a hotel this is and I'm not sure hotel is the right word, it feels more like a family house with owners who have amazing taste and really understand their guests. If you don't like staying at Derwent House I think that may say more about you then it does about them lol So much I could say, but the crux of it, would we go back again, in a heartbeat, would I recommend it, I would recommend it to our Mums :))Thanks for making the stay what it was Sam and John
Nothing, the place is amazing, the attention to detail something many business aspire to but few can achieve.
We cannot speak more highly about this place. DH is a colourful warm & friendly little sanctuary. The staff are all amazing, the room was so unique with lovely views of Table Mountain & the sea in the distance. Lots of lovely touches that made our stay so memorable. The breakfasts are delicious with lots of options & daily specials. They bake cakes that you can help yourself to in the afternoon & well stocked wine & gin bar on honesty basis Pool area is lovely with a hot tub & plenty of comfortable chairs / beds Nothing was too much trouble Amazing place that is a must stay Well done DH team !
