First Hotel Amalie

Great included breakfast, meant we just had breakfast and dinner each day. Central location made it easy to walk to most everything of interest. Appreciated that they allowed early check-in when we arrived at around 11AM since the room was ready.

Location and room itself

No one to let us in when we came. Had to wait for someone to come over from the Hotel Viking; that was quite disconcerting. The next day when we stored our luggage at the Viking and were waiting there to go to our boat, the person on duty kept leaving.

This was a great hotel! It’s very centrally located so it’s easy to walk everywhere and close to several bus stops. It is also close to many pick up points for various tours. The included breakfast was incredible. It had a lot of variety and was being refilled continuously. Waffle time from 5 to 7 PM was also a very nice addition. As a solo traveler, the single bed was perfect and the room was very warm even though it was freezing outside.

The walls are a little thin. Might be difficult to sleep for a light sleeper.

Great location right in the middle of the town, and the breakfast was excellent.

I really enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the location was perfect, and the internet connection was excellent throughout.

Overall, it was a good stay. However, the breakfast was very simple and did not offer enough variety. Adding more options would improve the experience.

No frills and plenty comfortable

Breakfast items were not replenished during the serving hours. Fresh fruit was especially in short supply.

Amazing location and staff, they were really friendly and accommodating. The homemade waffles and cookies were a lovely touch.

The location in central Tromsø provides you easy access to the port,numerous bars, restaurants, landmarks and attractions. Most tours start and terminates just 1 block away. Also there is High Speed WiFi!

Small bed but they have different room sizes so that shouldn’t matter if you choose one of the larger rooms, you just would have to improvise.

Location, breakfast included.

Breaking included was very basic. Fruits are very pathetic and honeydew was fresh. The kitchen staff doesn’t like it when we ask to refill the water jar.

The location, the staff, the wifi, the breakfast was great. But the rooms are very small and so is the WC.

Location was very convenient . Well connected to places of interest and airport. The bus stop was right ifo the hotel. The room was good. The staff was very friendly.The breakfast was not that great. But they offer complementary hot chocolate and brown cheese and cookies in the evening in the breakfast area. That’s a nice thing to have in the cold weather if you’re in the hotel at that time. Our overall stay was pretty good.

They can improve the breakfast. It be good to have more vegetarian options too.

Hotel room and beds are small but it was enough

Location was great. We were within walking distance to all of the meeting locations to all of our tours. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating.

The building is an old building and can be drafty. We were there mid November. The heating system/systems they have for the individual rooms are not adequate to keep you warm in the room. We were always a bit cold- even with the "heaters" on full blast.

Everything. Morning buffet, the evening waffles, friendly staff. The hotel is lovely, close to everything, yet, there was an atmosphere of peace and quiet. Perfect to relax and have a goodnight's sleep.

Very comfortable bed, great location, friendly staff. The room was small but I found plenty of space traveling alone. The heated floors in the bathroom were a nice touch. Free breakfast was nice.

The location is very good, walking distance to all the sights, and very close to tour meetup places, bus station, AirPort Express bus, etc. The staff are helpful. Breakfast is good.
