Pros +

  • The hotel is a part of an old mansion on the main promenade. It is on the 2nd floor up 2 flights of beautiful marble stairs Hotel only serves breakfast but that doesn't matter because on the ground/1st floor there is an excellent patisserie with great choice, including cheesecake as good as Lindy's New York. Also in the building is an excellent oyster and fish restaurant. Very good meals plus a couple of glasses of excellent ( Ukrainian) white wine about US$30. If you walk out of the hotel and keep turning left you will pass Central Bar (after 9pm nice music and many young girls smoking not cigarettes but shishas) keeping left you will come to well stocked supermarket with a kiosk where you can change money at current freemarket rates-do not change at local banks. Last word- Odesa Opera House is wonderful great performances of Moscow standard with stalls seats at $20 a throw!

Cons -

  • Irresponsible, ignorant owners. When I booked the place, I received the confirmation from them, but when I got there, it turned out that the owners fled the hotel without letting Booking.com know about their unavailability. This way they are causing chaos and stress to people living in the difficult warzone conditions. And all they needed to do was a few clicks, just like all the other hotels and restaurants around so that people know they should look for shelter elsewhere. Shame on them!
