Pros +
- Great breakfast, beautiful room, friendly owners
- A beautiful old building lovingly looked after by the wonderful Tricia and Andrew who couldn’t have been more accommodating. Tricia’s superb breakfast with a wide choice of fruits and cereals, a full English and everything in between, set me up perfectly for my days of walking, my plans for which were vastly improved by the advice from Andrew, who knows the area very well and patiently suggested various additional routes and detours. Their hard work ensured my stay was very comfortable and relaxing, thank you.
- Tricia was a friendly and helpful host. Delicious breakfasts especially the fresh fruit salad.
Cons -
- n/a . We like everything.
- The room temperature was a bit cold but it didn't affect me too much.
- Other than the parking being very cramped, only minor niggles. Parking is overhung by large trees that coated cars in volumes of sticky discarded flower bits. This latter won't be an issue most of the year and the residue didn't leave marks. There is no breakfast menu and you have to look in your crystal ball as to what you'll fancy, the night before - a pet hate of mine. Only some rooms have en suite. TV was small and not great. Some may object to the 'no shoes inside' rule - I was used to it!

location and breakfast, hospitality
Loved our two nights here exploring the region. Comfortable and lovely breakfast with other house guests. Central spot and wonderfully friendly hosts
Exceptionally beautiful and comfortable B and B in very tranquil spot. Peaceful yet in middle of village. Very hospitable, enjoyed it very much.
We spent two nights in this beautiful period property. Very warm welcome with tea & delicious local biscuits even on our late arrival. Our two rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. The house is decorated in a lovely tasteful manner. Car park onsite. Our hosts, Tricia and Andrew were delightful and very helpful with recommending places to visit and eat. Breakfast was first rate : the bacon and the mushrooms were especially delicious. We would highly recommend this property and stay, and I hope you will be returning soon - with our slippers this time.

I stayed there for almost 3 days and during my stay Trisha and Andrew have been extremely lovely and their home was absolutely stunning and the food was awesome!
The room temperature was a bit cold but it didn't affect me too much.
Lovely house with grand sitting room and bedroom. Beautifully furnished, clean, and warm. Breakfasts were quite good. Tricia and Andrew were great hosts. Highly recommended.
Tricia and Andrew were delightful hosts, very attentive and the property was one we knew of and met our expectations being located near to friends. Breakfast was in keeping with our requirements and I had an omelette for breakfast on the day we were leaving and it was just perfect.
We spent a fabulous 2 night stay at the Old Vicarage which is a beautiful period property in stunning surroundings. Our room was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. There was also underfloor heating in the bathroom. The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful and made with excellent quality ingredients. Tricia and Andrew were friendly, attentive hosts from beginning to end, from the tea and cake upon our arrival to the lovely bottle of organic Prosecco they kindly gave us for our anniversary. We would highly recommend this property and will definitely be returning.
I'm an inveterate traveller and this is one of the best places I've stayed for culture and atmosphere. Great location at centre of Peak and easy to get anywhere. Lovely village, plenty of pubs in vicinity. Hosts cultured and genuinely friendly, go the extra mile - even fitted us in when we arrived a day early! There is on site parking. Gardens and outside seating lovely. Rooms large and beds comfortable, well ventilated and heated and decorated tastefully in English Home style. In room facilities very good, eg bottled water provided and replaced, varied biscuit choice. Bathroom in en suite room I used is wet room and wonderful, with great shower, with very rare plenty of usable shelving, and plenty of ventilation. Carpets cleaned every day and cleanliness overall exemplary.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at The Old Vicarage. Mr & Mrs Vernon were excellent hosts who “went the extra mile”. We can certainly recommend them and the accommodation they have to offer.
Breakfast was beautifully prepared.Hospitality of the hosts was exceptional. We felt very much "at home" during our stay.Accommodation was comfortable and very clean.
We enjoyed a relaxing stay in a wonderful location. We were made to feel most welcome and the house, gardens and surrounding area are beautiful. There’s lots to see and do nearby and we’d love to return!
Everything was perfect. Tricia and Andrew were delightful hosts.
The Old Vicarage is a beautiful building and our room was very comfortable. It had its own bathroom with the deepest bathtub. A real treat. The breakfast was lovely. Our hosts, Tricia and Andrew were delightful and very helpful with recommending places to visit and eat. Their two dogs were adorable. Couldn’t fault our stay.
Absolutely nothing. Over breakfast, we could hear a fellow guest comment on the fact that the church bell had woken them up but this is all part of the B&B’s charm. Be sure to make dinner reservations as there aren’t a huge number of walkable places open to walk-ins.
Great hosts. Very warm welcome with tea & home made cake. Everything was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Tricia and Andrew went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable
Time went too quickly!!
The friendliness of the hosts was great, the breakfast was first rate and we loved the beautiful garden and house.
The room was a bit too warm,we woke up too hot and had to open the window. But only a little too hot.
Beautiful place, ideal location, comfortable bed, lovely hosts, amazing breakfast! We loved it and would definitely return and highly recommend to anyone who wants a lovely place to stay.
The village, the building, the room, the ensuite wet room, the hosts, number of places to eat and great breakfasts
