Pros +
- Beautiful location overlooking the beach. Warm and comfortable. We were upgraded to a suite which was very kind and much appreciated. This is a three star hotel but punches above its weight with beautiful food and very pleasant and friendly staff.
- Stunning location looking over the Loch. Great restaurant too. A good, well run hotel Will happily use it again
- The views from our room was superb, the food was great (home-made curries recommended). The manager was very knowledgable on the area and gave us lots of advice on what to see and do.
Cons -
- Unusual room layout on two levels, with sleeping and bathroom on one level and sitting, tv and tea/coffee making facilities on a downstairs level.
- The rooms are all different and, even have stayed here several times, I never seem to get the room I am expecting. However, all the rooms are clean and comfortable.
- Bar was cold & univiting

Good location, convenient on-site parking, large room but split over two levels

The location in Gairloch is good. Great breakfast and evening meals and a lovely view from the restaurant. Friendly staff.

Spacious accommodation with sitting room - unexpected
Bar was cold & univiting
Food and staff were good, great location. Bed was a bit soft for me but slept ok
Bed was a bit soft and bedroom door didn't close as it rubbed on the carpet trim. But in this case it didn't matter
Good view of Gairloch and lots of space in the rooms.
When asked for Soya milk they provided a container that had clearly been opened for a long time and the Soya inside was rancid. They were apologetic but this should have been picked up in the routine hygiene processes and not been served. The rest of the food was fine and the dining room has a good view of the bay.
Great view.
What let the whole thing down hugely was the dining experience. The dining room has a magnificent view but was bare and stark with cold, bright lights and a propped up radio trying (unsuccessfully) to inject some atmosphere. Menus looked cheap and didn't inspire confidence in the product. The food itself was fine. There was no wine list, apparently because they had very few wines left? It felt as if the place was getting ready to close for the winter. This could be a great hotel but currently it falls well short of what should be on offer in this beautiful location.
The room and the restaurant were pretty good considering the price paid. The room was comfortable and very clean.
The car parking at the bottom of about 30 steps isn't great, particularly in a storm.
i wouldn’t recommend,not worth the...
The room smelled foisty, wallpaper hanging off and patched up,you could see the mattress through the sheets, duvet covers and pillows smelled, the wardrobe was filthy covered in stains and chips, toilet roll holder and plugs hanging off the wall
Loved the seperate downstairs living room and door that opened on to the street. Loved the bar and dinner and the included breakfast was delicious
I was a bit confused about the locked door downstairs which looking through the window appeared to be a kitchen, we really needed a fridge so that kitchen would have been useful
It was very cosy and warm inside, which we really appreciated as it was very windy, cold and raining outside when we arrived. The breakfast was really good and very generous, and the staff cheerful and friendly. The rooms themselves were nice, although a little dated.
There was no parking available near reception as the guest parking is limited, and we got wet getting into and out of the car.
We had an suite here which made the difference, bed and bathroom upstairs and a little living room downstairs. Just gave us more room. The rooms are a bit tired, but are clean. The staff were very friendly and enjoyed our breakfast on both mornings and had a lovely dinner here too. Parking was no trouble for us and would definitely recommend a visit to the cafe/bookshop across the road.
Most staff were very helpful and kind. The food was OK but only just. Loud foul mouthed locals in the bar playing pool in the evening,
Awful room, so tiny there was hardly room to get around the bed. No chair in room, no shelves and nowhere to put anything. Recently refurbished but badly done and poor design. No bulb in lobby light. Window stuck, very stiff key in door, bedroom door hit skirting board when opening. Springs poking through mattress, sheet (torn one) straight onto mattress with no other mattress covering at all. One morning we waited an hour for the cooked breakfast to arrive. Apologies were ‘my bad, I forgot!’
Lovely location . Large rooms comfortable sofa , fantastic curry menu in resturant and excellent breakfast .
No extras .. tea coffee or milk for making drinks but had a kettle and empty kitchen with no utilities
The staff was friendly and really tried to make the best of this property.
Location is so difficult to get to and far away from Isle of Skye as advertised.(4.5 hours of one way winding horribly maintained road). very little parking at hotel. Our room was musty smelly and furnished from the 60’s. Sheet on the bed so thin one could see the bed coil. Had to place a comforter under us because the mattress so old and uncomfortable. Not sure any bedding had been replaced in the last 50 years either. Carpet was bare thin, raveling at edges (see photos). Sofa was lumpy.
Brilliant accommodation in great location
Bit expensive compared with other places we had stayed on NC 500
Over priced, generally unimpressive.
Poor communication. A message to the hotel and 3-4 phone calls not answered. £150 per night here, £100 at the Gairloch Hotel which is greatly superior. Receptionist tried but obviously had no training.
Not too much
Everything.Genuine polite complaint raised after breakfast. We were extremely unhappy with how a particular health and safety issue was not resolved. In today's world it is so important to make sure guests have a wonderful experience. I have never left a hotel so unhappy with the service provided.I did not expect a full refund, but I was offered nothing. The hotel was priced at a shocking £190 for the night, the following night was £172 or similar. Nothing was offered, not even 5%.I was asked to email head management and yet they have not had the decency to reply to my detailed email. They are obviously fine with the prospect of losing guests and having bad reviews. The hotel was cold and very tired and dirty.I would never recommend this place, on a number of issues, besides, health, safety and very basic food.
