The situation was perfect for exploring local attractions. The staff were so friendly & helpful. The bar with a log fire was spot on. Evening meal and breakfast was tasty & portion sizes were generous. The rooms were basic, but clean and tidy & the beds were very comfy. Looking forward to a return visit.

    10MarshallPosted on: 12-30-2025

Staff were very personable, went the extra mile to ensure I was comfortable, well fed and informedI was the only guest on a Sunday night but that had no impact on teh service and attention I received.

Nothing to recommend - it was all to my satisfaction

A lovely family run hotel in a local village. Open fire in the bar was a treat after a bitterly cold day in December. Food was great, pool table and good bar with friendly staff made our night. Bedroom was lovely, clean and so comfortable, we slept like babies! A real home from home even though its a hotel, once through the doors you never felt like it was a hotel. Thank you to everyone and those we met, absolutely lovely x

That we could only stay the one night.

From being greeted at the hotel entrance by the lovely landlady to the laughs and feeling so welcome at dinner...which was proper tasty, the couple who run the George borrow are just super. They are friendly, funny and attentive. There's a pool table, darts board and a roaring fire which in this weather is so very welcomed. The room was comfortable, the shower hot, the kettle was a lovely bonus and the biscuits yummy. Then the breakfast! Yum yum.. completely tailored to our preferences, served in a room with big windows looking toward the mountain. Just beyond the garden is the most beautiful waterfall. Lovely stay

Helpful owners , lovely big bedroom with fabulous view . Bedroom very clean.

Shower was lovely and warm but a bit of a trickle .

    10JordanPosted on: 10-20-2025

It was amazing all over. The building has some minor issues but they are due to the age of the building. The rooms are lovely , the staff are amazing , the view is beautiful and the food is great.

Nothing I’ve left a more detailed review on tripadvisor. All amazing 10/10

A great traditional hotel in a rural location near Devil's bridge and on the Glyndwr Way. The staff were were friendly, professional and helpful. The food for dinner and breakfast was very good. We were walking the Glyndwr Way and the hotel provided a great overnight stay with a comfortable room, nice little bar (with a pool table and dart board) and some welcome tasty food. Although we didn't use the outside space (due to rain), the hotel has an attractive small beer garden with some fantastic views on the hills.

On a busy rural A road; walking the Glyndwr way you have to walk down it for a few hundred yards, not the best (but not the hotels fault!)

The hotel has character. It is old and I love its connection with George Borrow.

It’s an old hotel and you get an old hotel experience. There was nothing I didn’t like but a fair review needs to mention the building age.
