Pros +
- Convenient setting in heart of delightful Portsoy
- Location,on our road trip. And the cooked breakfast.
- Friendly, welcoming staff. Excellent location. Evening meals (on two nights) were delicious. Freshly cooked curries made to our tastes but European fare was also available. Our suite was a good size, very comfortable and the hotel in general was clean.
Cons -
- Staff tried hard but clearly hadn't a clue about running a hotel / welcoming guests efficiently....and the so called Curry served from the kitchen was an abomination.Only one bedside lamp in a double room.A catalogue of disasters I am afraid. And with no breakfast service til after 8am we departed at seven, severely disgruntled.to get on with our day.
- All the stairs and we had trouble flushing the toilet.
- Shower pressure wasn’t strong but was just adequate.

The room was nice.
went to restaurant for dinner, Had ale and steak pie, When it came it was in a dish looked like more pulled beef in a very water like liquid, certainly not gravy, worst meal I have had In a long time. Certainly wouldn't eat there again.
Good communication leading up to stay. Easy check in and check out. Clean.
Double bed was made up of two single mattresses, uncomfortable.
room great was fine for size as we had our 2 dogs with us as well had large shower room did not have time to eat in restur ant menu looked lovely good choices had breakfast was lovely and made fresh to order also good continental choices as well staff lovely and friendly would recommend hotel and plan to stay again in the future
Friendly and helpful staff, clean room, right in the center of Portsoy.
The room was partly a bit tired, heating not working properly, kettle old and tatty.
Hotel was everything I expected, staff friendly and welcoming, the food in the restaurant and breakfast excellent.
Issue with closing window as expressed to staff while we were there.
Location was good with plenty parking available either outside the hotel or at the nearby car park.
The bedroom was dated and was a very dark room with not much light getting in from outside.
Excellent breakfast - good location
would have liked a light above a mirror
BATHROOM OK
Depressing room ,window was opaque so couldn't see out. Stair case was dreadful. Bar was most uncomfortable for bar meals We had one night left in the morning .
We had a lovely stay at this family-run hotel. The room was comfortable and spacious enough, the bed very cozy, and the price really good value for what you get. All the staff were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to accommodate every guest’s needs.Breakfast was busy the morning we were there, and the staff were very upfront about it—they let us know there might be a wait and offered tea/coffee and access to the buffet table while we waited. We were in no rush, so it was totally fine. I appreciated getting lactose-free milk straight away, and when our cooked breakfast came, it was really tasty. It’s clear the team works hard to make everyone feel welcome, even under pressure. Sometimes things take a bit longer, but that’s just part of a personal, hands-on approach in a busy family-run place. We’d definitely stay again!
The location and the lovely housekeeper who kept a smile on her face despite the many breakfast issues
This hotel is very dated though we knew what we were signing up to and wanted to stay in Portsoy. We waited 45 minutes for a poor breakfast. The poor housekeeper/waitress had to keep running out for missing ingredients. Sound carries easily from room to room so on night one we were woken at 1.30am by noisy guests slamming doors and chatting next door and night two by a serious snorer!
Staff were lovely, room was clean, beds comfortable
Easy to find, really generously sized room. Basic but everything you needed in it. Bed was comfy. Staff friendly. Breakfast exceeded expectations
Nothing to mark down
Small easy to reach hotel with comfortable feel. Landlord really nice chap and very accommodating. Food available and good value. Nice breakfast..
All was good.
Food, staff, weather and scenery.⁸
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and The breakfast was very generous .
I can't think of anything
Hotel served its purpose for my visit. Staff very friendly.
I thought I had pre-paid for breakfast when I booked the room. But I hadn't and it was an extra £10. For someone like me who only eats cereal that makes it very expensive and I ordered extra to justify the cost. Would prefer individual prices per item. Room was fine but dated. Shower screen was difficult to move to get in and out and I had a grotty kettle that was changed, but then I had the original back, which didn't make me want to have a hot drink.
Absolutely lovely place to stay food excellent staff excellent and helpful
Room was a bit cold
