- Staff were great. Accommodation was top notch.
- The room was clean, spacious and well apointed. We had a very nice dinner in the dining room and breakfast was excellent with great service. The staff were all very helpful and efficient. We were impressed and shall return again.
- We stayed in a deluxe king room and it was amazing. We had dinner and breakfast and the food was outstanding All staff very friendly
Cons -
- The menu has not changed in years. This needs a full revamp. I appreciate that its not a run of the mill restaurant but next time I'm there, I'm afraid ill be eating elsewhere. Also you need to make customers aware that there is a service charge added to the bill. I certainly wasn't happy about that.
- Getting luggage up the staircase was a little challenging - we don't travel light. However, there were offers to help us with this if we needed. The room was spacious with great views of the river, but at times it was too warm and there was no way to regulate the heat. Opening a window was the only option, but as the weather was rainy this wasn't always practical or easily managed. We only went down for breakfast once and I thought the "Scottie" - a form of full-Scottish breakfast - was a little disappointing: a small, single rasher of bacon, a fried egg that looked as though it has been reheated in a microwave, and a potato pancake that was like cardboard and almost inedible. It just lacked the freshness and "just prepared" presentation I was expecting. The haggis and black pudding were excellent though, as was the baked beans.
- The hotel bar prices were quite high but I suppose in keeping with the location and surroundings.

The hotel has a beautiful location alongside the River Dee. It is an old country-style hotel, with no elevator and may pose some challenges for those who are physically challenged. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding. Plenty of space for parking and the interior was tastefully decorated and warm. Food, other than breakfast, in the restaurant was well prepared and tasted good. Housekeeping was excellent and our room was refreshed daily. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely setting, wonderful food and very friendly staff
Lovely meal. Friendly staff. Location was very pretty
Lovely location and such friendly staff. Good food at restaurant. Would highly recommend
Beautiful property in stunning setting. Wonderful staff ready to help with any request.
My room was cold even with the radiator on full blast and the bathroom was an ice block due to large single glazing window.
On a positive note, Kevin, our breakfast waiter, was a lovely chap and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.
We booked a Deluxe King Room with terrace but were given a room with only a standard double bed. The terrace was scruffy and poorly maintained, and the river view was largely blocked by chimneys from an outdoor catering hut. There were several maintenance and cleanliness issues: the bedroom floor was dirty, the toilet seat was loose, the toilet was very slow to refill, the shower pressure was poor, and the lounge curtain lining was disintegrating. Privacy was also affected, as the ladies’ outdoor toilets were clearly visible from the corridor window. At breakfast, a fork provided was dirty.Overall, the room did not match the description or expectations for a deluxe category.
Staff were excellent, super-friendly and very accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. Food was also excellent and it is such a unique and beautiful venue in a stunning location.
Radiator in our room was either ridiculously hot or off, so the valve needs repair/replacement. We largely kept it off to avoid boiling!
Perfect, especially the hotel, food and above all the staff
It’s a little over built in the surrounding area
The room we had was lovely and spacious with a superking size bed, wardrobe, dressing table and small table and chairs. It was cold on our arrival however the brought an extra heater and the room did heat up. They have a fire in the restaurant area but it doesnt feel like they are making they best use out of that space.
Breakfast - dry and overcookedRestaurant prices - Really not justified We ate elsewhere. We have heard the quality has gone down and prices have gone up since a new owner took over a few years ago. I would be more likely to return if prices reflected the quality. Locally this is mentioned
Lovely and clean, very friendly and helpful staff, the food was delicious and the breakfast was lovely
Having to leave
We arrived on a very bad snow day. Scenery was stunning, hotel was warm & stocked as best as possible. There was boots & umbrella’s at reception for customers to use at their leisure. Fully dog friendly, welcomed many dogs during our stay. Our large dog had plenty space in the room & settled great. No complaints re room cleanliness etc. All in, the service was really good considering the conditions, staff very accommodating to busy bars & restaurants. Our evening meal in the bar was delicious with a great selection of beverages too.
There was no option in our room to buy or rent movies, this would have been a nice option considering we were snowed in. However if we had arrived in summer there is too much to do to around the location & onsite to be staying indoors!
Comfortable, warm, nicely decorated
Some noise from function in room
Lovely location by the river, ideal for walking and very dog friendly.
The room was poorly lit and very little storage space. A big negative is the lack of a lounge or library just to read or chill. Pricey.
Welcome on arrival and well presented and luxurious accommodation. Excellent quality of food and good level of service, especially at breakfast service.
Very festive, beautiful Christmas decorations everywhere. Staff very friendly & efficient. Lovely big room either extremely comfortable bed. Delicious supper in the bar & nice atmosphere
Breakfast was excellent location first class staff helpful and cheerful
There was nothing I didn’t like
