    Pros +

    • Beautiful house on the river, with lovely views. Very friendly, helpful staff. The choice of non meat/ fish options at breakfast and dinner. Even vegan wine on the wine list! Our evening meal was one of the best meals we've had in a long while. Fresh, interesting and well presented. Warm and cosy decor. Easy to find and park. The dog bed in our room was thoughtful. We would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat.
    • This is our second visit to Maryculter House. The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms are immaculate. Breakfast and evening meals are really nice. Another relaxing break.
    • A very warm comfortable hotel (snow outside) with much interesting history. Excellent room and bathroom with view over the river. Enjoyable evening meal and very good breakfast.

    Cons -

    • Personally, I didn't feel the quality of the mattress and pillows matched the other qualities of the hotel.
    • Bar area was rather limited and lounge had an open fire which was difficult as one of the party is asthmatic.
    • It was Valentine’s Day night and hotel had special offer on. Completely full. Staff were a bit rushed, especially at meal times.

Visited several times. Each time it has been very good. Comfortable rooms friendly staff and exceptional food. Best steak I’ve had in a long time.

Excellent location with deeply historic and interesting environment with a spectacularly historic building. Our room overlooked the river with splendid quiet views. Breakfasts and dinners were marvellous.Very recommended !!

    The history and grounds.

The lovely decor and open fires. Fantastic food.. Welcoming staff. Comfortable bed.

Room was very comfy with bath and shower. High quality fitments. Short stay so didnlt spend a great deal of time at the hotel.

The weather. As with all hotels you get stung badly if you are a solo traveller. Would have been nice to have had the fire going in the lounge. The road system in and around Aberdeen caused havoc with my sat nav due to the road closures so we seemed to take miles of detours to find the location.

    8LynnPosted on: 2-9-2026

Food was good, especially breakfast. The great hall was lovely to sit round the fire on a cold winter evening. Staff friendly and efficient.

Warm friendly welcome. Super cosy, spacious, spotlessly clean room. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Great value too. A well done to all the team at Maryculter House Hotel.

    Nothing. All was perfect.

Lovely decor and feel about the hotel. The old hall lounge is an amazing piece of history. Restaurant was very good and room was lovely.

The food was excellent but a single scallop appetizer for £17 is stretching it a bit.

Beautifully decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed settling down with a book and a drink in the comfy settees next to a roaring fire in the residents lounge. Breakfast and dinner were good in the attractive dining room. I thoroughly enjoyed a nice soak in the bathroom which included both a bath and a shower. Good toiletries. Comfy bed in a cosy, old fashioned looking bedroom.

It’s in a lovely spot - on the river. The main hall was nice in the evening but the staff struggled to make a decent fire and we had to fix it ourselves!

It was really understaffed and the food was appalling

    7PaulPosted on: 1-30-2026

    Rooms first class.

Poor choice on menu both main meal and dessert, need experienced bar staff who can pull a proper pint , very poor selection draught beer.

    8JohnPosted on: 1-26-2026

Lovely setting, loads of history associated with the building. En-suite Bathroom had obviously been recently refitted and was both spacious and well appointed.Staff were helpful and ‘went the extra mile’ to make us feel comfortable.

Only real negative was the furniture in the room looked very worn (many scratches on the vanity unit) and there was a burn mark on the carpet where a previous resident had dropped an iron. Overall it had obviously been used for residents who had dogs and had the associated wear and tear.

Beautiful property, excellent staff, comfortable bed. Amazing bathroom with huge bath and great toiletries

Although bed was very comfortable. Husband bashed his knee twice as bed frame stuck out and was a bit big for the size of room.

    Nice cosy and clean

The dinning area was too Small and seemed understaffed

Our stay was magical. Enchanting road with snow-dusted trees, romantic location near the river, tasty breakfast. The hotel comprises great collection of painting and Templar suite which is great for the evenings near the fire. Each details is well-thought. The employees are extremely attentive - they arranged sweet birthday treats as well as champagne for our engagement. Absolutely unforgettable experience!

The only thing that could be improved are the potholes in the road
