    Pros +

    • Great service and atmosphere
    • Overall the location was just close enough to the main towns and attractions which we visited the Lodore Falls, well worth the visit. The room was really nice and comfortable and suitable located, bed and was comfortable and quiet.
    • 10/10 best place we’ve stayed in the lakes! Cannot recommend this place enough, superb location tucked away but still close enough to Keswick! Staff were super friendly! Extremely peaceful, lots of local places to go for a walk, also the scenery is picturesque. Honestly a great place to de stress! Fantastic facilities, our room was absolutely gorgeous. Clean and comfortable, literally so quiet had a lovely night sleep. The view from our room was breathtaking! We will be visiting again soon and definitely recommending to friends and family! Thankyou!!

    Cons -

    • Room was a little dated
    • By far the biggest disappointment was the average food for the price and terribly slow service. Fundamentally the food was nothing special but was presented very nicely which took far too long. The menu didnt include a vegetation option also quite poor was not being asked about any allergies for the entirety of our duration for dinner and breakfast. Unless you were strapped down for the night I would recommend eating out.
    • Breakfast was a little on the pricey side at £19+ per person, but we just went to a local cafe instead. Absolutely not an issue to us but I’m sure it would be lovely as the restaurant looked amazing!

Beautiful location, very friendly staff, extremely comfortable bed.

The room was beautiful but was quite small

The room was spacious. Comfy bed. Stunning views

The restaurant was overpriced so we brought our own breakfast and ate dinner on route..

Excellent room, amazing bathroom and shower

Couldn't get a taxi into Keswick for the evening foe drinks

    8RachelPosted on: 2-9-2026

The room was decorated beautifully, the bar and lounge areas were also stylish

There wasn’t any atmosphere in the bar area and even before last orders (10.30pm), we felt a bit awkward as if the staff were trying to close up and wanted us to leave

    location, cleaniliness

very expensive for the meals and breakfast. We paid £50 each for 2 course and we were still hungry afterwards. Drinks very expensive and not much atmosphere

Modern rooms, friendly staff, views of the are, bar voucher instead of room clean

Breakfast was overpriced for what you got

The location is picturesque, staff friendly and clearly happy to be a part of Borrowdale Gates. Sandra is a huge asset on reception. The restaurant looked lovely and the food quality both at dinner and breakfast was faultless. Our room was fabulous with views we will return for.

Our fabulous bathroom was let down by lack of hot water… the system doesn’t cope with peak shower times… we had a gorgeous bath but unable to use after our long mountain walk as no hot water… I was devastated! Great option to service own rooms but surely enough toilet roll could be provided without having to go to reception to request it. A more luxurious pillow would have been lovely

    One would never expect.

Excrement of previous guest or staff left in toilet when checked in--everything else was cleaned and the moment I lift the toilet lid, whoa... A BIG DUMP. Reported to reception and took them more than 40 minutes to arrange the cleaning and nobody came to solve the issue. Had to move to another room and some guests left their rather vigilant dogs indoor and the dogs were barking terribly loudly from 8.30pm to 10pm. Had to move to another room. The facility is overall good, decoration is beautiful, but the management is an absolute joke. Alas.

    Lovely hotel

Went into Keswick in the evening when we got back the front door was locked and was left outside We phoned the number on the door but went to a answering machine They could do with giving the info to customer about doors locked and the time

Friendly staff , Fabulous food, spacious beautifully decorated rooms

    9KennethPosted on: 12-3-2025

The location, the staff, the food.

The mattress was a little thinner than I would have liked. Not uncomfortable but a more premium one would have been the icing on the cake.

    10TobyPosted on: 11-22-2025

Amazing location and lovely room. Staff were so friendly and the food was great. Couldn’t have asked for more.

    10NeilPosted on: 11-17-2025

The garden suites are fantastic with lovely views very clean and modern. The restaurant exceeded expectations the food was fantastic! The team throughout the hotel were very warm and friendly.

Location is excellent if you like peace and quiet, and countryside walking (or are willing to drive to places). The establishment is excellently run - I couldn't fault a sinlge member of staff, and their attention to guests was exemplorary.Food, drink, staff, building ... all great.

The bill - the place is so good, we fully relaxed and enjoyed the 6 course dinner with drinks + breakfast the next day. It all adds up of course!I have to say, I was a little disappointed at being charged for a 'put up bed' for my young daughter ... but I guess it is only fair if this is an extra / add-on.

Beautiful location, delightful staff, spotlessly clean, great food, great base for hiking and exploring the local area. We appreciated the warm boot room. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lack of food options in the day, it would have been helpful to have been able to order bar food, and we would have expected this service with the cost of the stay. They staff were fabulous but we sensed run off their feet! We did feel for them as they were doing their best. The owners need to employ more staff to offer the service we would expect from a premium hotel, for example, a bar where lunch or drinks can be ordered throughout the day. We were in the new extension and sound proofing fairly non existent. Could hear everyone word of conversations from neighbouring rooms and slamming of doors which was a shame.
