Glaramara Hotel

The location was perfect, very peaceful. The lounge and bar were a lovely place to relax and chat. The set 3 course dinner was excellent. We enjoyed our stay but the two negative points mentioned below really marred it.

I noticed our bedsheet was stained on the first night. It was changed for the second night but no one followed it up to see if everything was okay. They also charged us twice for dinner - luckily I noticed before paying. I would definitely recommend checking your bill!

The location, though a bit off the Cumbria Way which we were hiking, was beautiful and it would be worth a visit back just to stay in that valley. We were hesitant to book the dinner, but in the end we did and were so glad to have done so. The dining room offered the flexibility of one, two or three courses. We were tired so we only wanted the one. It was absolutely fabulous. What's more, though we didn't go for dessert, coffee and delicious homemade chocolates were available in the lounge afterwards.

Absolutely nothing. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

Just want to say we have come back from a first-class stay at the Glaramara Hotel, all made even better by the exceptional service received from the staff. I would especially like to thank Sharon and Andrea on reception, who were incredibly helpful throughout our stay, assisting with our booking and dinner reservations and always offering a warm, friendly welcome. Their attention to detail and genuine care made such a difference and helped make our stay truly memorable. We can’t wait to return!

The location was amazing. Breakfast was great, lots of choice.

The price was higher than expected. Somehow I managed to book a double room for 1 and when I explained that it was for two the price almost doubled. They charge per person rather than per room which is unusual and I expect that is why I ended up selecting a double room for 1 - never happened before on Booking.com. Dinner was also a little expensive but was very nice, with some nice touches, bread and olives plus coffee and homemade chocolates.

Good breakfast but poached eggs were over done.

Location of our double room was noisy at night, ie room 304. Room was small considering the price. Shower could have been hotter. We didn't like the specified evening meal time.

The location was ideal, close to Keswick village but also in a nice quiet area. The sheep and horses were an added bonus

Everything about my stay was fantastic. This hotel runs like clock-work. It was spotlessly clean and maintained. The staff were friendly and highly organised. Food was fine - every night at dinner a different menu, breakfast a super buffet with hot and cold options. The location was ideal for hiking with Dale Head at the back of the hotel, and Glaramara in front. What I liked about my holiday was that there was no need to drive anywhere. My room was at the front with a lovely mountain view. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. I had my companion lurcher with me. He had a great time with some lovely walks in the area, for example to Seathwaite or on the CTC.In all, ten out ten, no question.

Stunning location and staff very friendly. One sitting for dinner is unusual but ok.Would have preferred our room to be hoovered daily due to having our dog with us but otherwise the room was spacious with plenty of storage.

The location was fabulous but the evening meal was expensive for a basic roast dinner. The slices of beef were thin and for the price, there wasn’t enough.

Lovely location with pleasant staff .. Leanne and Martyn in particular were helpful. Dinner and breakfast were top notch. Close to a pub .. Yew Tree Inn. Very comfortable bed. Dog in next room barked a little but not to intrusive. We would come back again. Thanks

Absolutely stunning location with views of the lakes mountains all around. Large range of walking routes starting right at the hotel. Packed lunches were available to order to take out on hikes so well geared up for lakes visitors. Great breakfast with friendly staff that were always willing to help. Dinners were unusual - only one sitting at 7.30pm but it meant you got to know other guests in the hotel, with coffee in front the fire after giving you opportunity to get to know some of the other guests too. The room felt like it had been recently renovated and the bathroom was modern with an excellent large overhead shower.

It was overall an excellent stay. I hadn't realised about the one sitting dinner before my arrival (probably hadn't read the booking details well!). I think the dinner menu might need a little more thought, particularly desserts.
