    Pros +

    • Convenient location for town centre, free on site private parking. Good breakfast.
    • good location, clean room, nice facilities
    • Great location on a lovely high street Comfortable room

    Cons -

    • We are light sleepers. The first 2 rooms we were allocated had noise (the first from the kitchen extractor, the second because it was on the road). On the third attempt we were allocated a quiet room.
    • Basic double room pictured as having a coffee table with the tub chair. no table was in our room and we requested one from staff as we required it as both room occupants work whilst in the room.we were told by reception that they are busy so there will be a wait, but no table arrived at all during our 3 night stay.
    • When I went to check out, reception said I had t paid the bill. Fortunately I located the email which said I did. The receptionist didn’t apologise. If I hadn’t found the email we would have had to pay twice.

The location was perfect. The staff were absolutely delightful. The room was lovely

The bath was like an ice rink and one of us fell out of the bath. We had to ask for a non slip bath mat.Screaming water pipes woke us up at 0500 on the day we left. It had been much worse the day we arrived! The windows couldn’t be opened.

Location and parking great food smelt good but we went out for dinner. Beds were comfortable.

We asked for a twin and got a double disabled room that’s was on there terrace so people chatting outside all night. Shower was to low being 6ft and all the coffee in the room was decaf. Would give it a 2 + star. Never a 4

Breakfast was very good great choice of hot and cold food. Nice room too .

We arrived 10 mins before breakfast serving finished due to having an elderly mother with us who took a long time to get ready and down for breakfast. This didn’t seemTo go down too well wot he lady searving us and was quite rude .

    Staff were very friendly

Breakfast was awful, fire alarms went off at 11:45pm but the staff didn't know what to do! No one was there to explain what was happening and loads of us were waiting in a cold and windy car park with out being told it was safe to go back inside! There was no one on reception when we checked in and we had to go and find someone in the bar. Not what I expect of a 4 star hotel. Reading the reviews AFTER our stay it seems the place has seen better days. It's a fabulous building and it would only take a few tweaks to make it a fabulous hotel

The standard of housekeeping was second to none, our room was spotless, very comfortable and spacious. All of the staff from the moment we checked in to the time we left were amazing.

    There was nothing!

Rooms were clean. Location is very good, close to lake district. Staff is helpful. Hotel has car park.

    Breakfast was poor.

The garden area by the river is lovely. Room was very clean.

No communal lounge are.Rooms dated . Window opened onto a wall and above bar/kitchen area. Noise from kitchen air vent very loud . Breakfast buffet. Collecting tea and coffee AND cups milk and spoons from bar area. Could be dangerous at busy times. Surely cups could at least be on the table. Visited many times before and felt the hotel was running down.

The staff was very friendly, housekeeping staff was great! The room was kept very clean and tidy!

The property is somewhat dated and needs upgrading. I've been coming to the Trout Hotel for a decade, and it feels like it's recently changed hands and under new management. The dining room, bar and hallway around the restaurant smell terrible, like trapped grease and rancid fat. The dining room was dirty, and the food was not the same.

We choose this hotel for its location, as its near to where our son now lives and works and we were so impressed. Its location is amazing right on the river, the rooms are beautifully decorated and such a good size. The staff were great, from the fab night porter, who greeted us with a jolly smile when we arrived late on Friday evening, to the lovely lady who served us breakfast and the brilliant team who looked after us for our evening meal on Saturday. It was not the cheapest around, but you really do get what you pay for. We the certainly be back.

    Breakfast

Room was really poor for the price - very small, and dated with a view of another wall probably about two foot from our window.

    9DavePosted on: 6-14-2024

Room was very quiet, breakfast was good, breakfast staff Sue and Allison were excellent and a real plus to your hotel as was Dixon who is part of your dinner staff. The room cleaning staff were also excellent and had a great service attitude.

The front desk staff seem disengaged and did not come across as warm, welcoming and happy to be dong their job. We were surprised at the small window size in our room but otherwise the room was exactly what we were looking for.

Plenty of parking Close to the lakes where you can have drinks Beautifully well kept grounds The decor is beautiful Food - amazing

The water pressure in 303 needs to be looked at, the cold tap stops and starts and the water out of the lower shower can go from warm to boiling intermittently. Carpets need replacing on the upper hallways.
