- A great location and friendly, helpful staff
- Stayed with our large dog plenty of room for him in our immaculate cosy roomFood was lovely.Staff were very helpful and friendly
- The breakfast was excellent, the room was clean and plenty big enough for the two of us and our dog. All of the staff were friendly and keen to assist with anything we needed. Definitely recommended and we will stay again.
Cons -
- Our room was very war. However, we spoke to the staff there who were quick to solve the problem with air conditioning
- The only tiny complaint would be room didnt have space to put toiletries out so had to store in a draw and not much hanging space but as was only staying a couple of days it wasn't a hardship
- The rooms are smart and lovely and clean, the situation is perfect and the food is amazing, cannot fault the stay at all.

Stayed at the hotel before and again the experience was first class, staff friendly and helpful just a fantastic place to stay well done.

Room was brilliant- we booked a twin room but were actually given a family room which meant we had our own bedroom. The breakfast was superb - wonderful poached eggs and they aren’t easy. Location couldn’t be better - right in the centre of town.
The room was lovely, clean, spacious, perfect location. The lady at breakfast who I think has worked there for years, think she is polish. Hands down the reason why I would come and visit this property. So friendly and clearly loves her job. She is a credit to this hotel.
When I booked I searched, 2 adults, 1 dog. It booked a room for 1 person and didn’t include how much a dog would be, last time stayed it was £10 for a dog, which was reasonable, this time it was £20 and a extra £12 for a breakfast as the only booking was for 1! I wouldn’t have booked this room for £186 if I knew this! When asked the staff about this, the man was not helpful and quite rude tbh. This also wasn’t brought up at the time of check in regarding the room only being for 1 person in error. Also when asked how much extra for the dog the man said he’ll sort it at check out… when he could have told us the price then. The hotel has recently reopened and didn’t feel like it was ready, staff unorganised boxes everywhere, lighting always going off on the entrance. So maybe I thought in good will they would waver the price for a dog staying as a good gesture.
Breakfast nice. Room very small and too warm.
Location and fabulous breakfast
Our room smelled of dogs. I own a dog, and love dogs but don't appreciate a hotel room smelling of dogs.
Central location. Room was lovely, clean. Bed was really comfortable. Breakfast was really good with plenty of choice.
Excellent location. Really clean excellent food and friendly efficient staff parking near.
Nothing!
Location, friendliness of staff, bar, comfortable bed.
Room and en-suite were a little small, but no real problem.
Our 2nd stay at The Royal Oak great location, friendly staff, warm comfortable room and one of the best breakfasts we have had.
Nothing everything was great.
Very clean rooms slept like a baby very comfortable bed and the breakfast was 10 out of 10
Can't fault it nothing to add

Great location. Room had everything we needed breakfast was good
Slightly shabby in places
Location, cleanliness, lovely staff and a great night sleep!
Nothing at all
Location, in the centre, beds comfortable.
Room & en suite, just a little bit on the small side but no real problem.
Looks really nice after the recent renovations. Staff were fantastic and always willing to answer your questions or give advice. Our spaniel was spoilt by all the staff. Loved that they used local products throughout - the Bath House toiletries are amazing & the shop is directly opposite
Nothing, hotel & staff are perfect
Fab location. Lovely Breakfast. Staff good on the whole.
Room in urgent need of a refurbishment. Ruined the stay really. Back of door and skirting boards seriously scuffed and scratched. Shower floor dirty. Toilet roll holder fell off wall. Carpet looked ancient.Had 1 evening meal whilst there. The Royal Oak signature burger with bacon. Overcooked and rubbery. No taste. Not worth the money.Tried to give constructive criticism on check out (blonde receptionist...didnt get her name- not interested. Definitely not up to the standard that we're accustomed too....You'd probably get better at a Premier Inn.
