Cons -
- I was unable to enjoy their excellent menu and quality of food, due to my own late arrival and early departure. Nonetheless the Receptionist made sure I had a lovely plate of food and superb ale available on my later than expected arrival.
- Bedroom a little chilly on arrival.
- The food in the dining room felt warmed-up, rather than freshly cooked, but tadted good.

Bedroom a little chilly on arrival.
Loved the room and the housekeeping was brilliant - someone noticed that I was drinking all the available water, so resupplied me with double the number of bottles (and biscuits!). Very sweet.

Breakfast was super and the breakfast staff were excellent .
We booked a table for 11 of us and when we arrived they put us on two separate round tables Which we asked if they could move them together and they said no! The dining area was almost empty so we couldn’t see what the problem was apart from pure laziness the waitress was applauding she looked like she didn’t want to be there and made what should have been a great night into a terrible night
Excellent breakfast. Central location in Melrose. Car parking. Restaurant is very good indeed.
All good.
All except below
Lock on bedroom door didn’t work. The beef on the Sunday roast was poor. Two very thin undercooked slices full of fat. Not good.
Fab location in the centre of Melrose. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Amazing breakfast, served to your table (no buffet). Comfortable room - bathroom definitely recently re-furnished. Great shower. Comfy bed. Couldn’t fault it and will return!
Lovely country hotel Very nice staffGood food
No desserts that weren’t “ chocolate or ice cream” based!!Otherwise nice food and surroundings and very nice young staff
Everything, it was warm and inviting staff and managers were most helpful from beginning to end of our stay
Having to leave could have stayed longer
The room was lovely and clean. It had everything we needed. We had an evening meal and the food was delicious.
The only thing we could fault was the small Tv, but that didn’t affect our stay
Clean accomodation with very nice food with for breakfast and evening meal.Great central location.
Nothing really, perhaps a touch expensive for the room.
breakfast excellent, staff cheerful and helpful.
absence of light to read with when in bed or sitting
We arrived early, found a space easily in the hotel car park. We expected to leave our bags but were told our room was ready and we were able to check into our room. The check in process was informative, friendly and helpful. Our room was warm, comfortable and tastefully furnished with tea and coffee facilties - just what we needed. We were in the area visiting family so didn't have dinner at the hotel but I know they have a good reputation. We enjoyed a drink in the bar later in the evening and delicious breakfasts. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We very much enjoyed our stay and will be back!
The weather could have been better but the hotel was warm and cosy which more than made up for it.
Very clean. Friendly staff. Good quality furniture and fittings. Food excellent.
Great location and welcoming hotel
Does need a little spruce up, a little dated in parts
Attentive welcoming staff. Dinner in the bar Bistro was excellent with great friendly service. Executive single room was cosy with wide comfortable bed. Location was in centre of town but not noisy. Close to Borders crematorium - the reason for my visit.
Nothing springs to mind.
There was a lovely welcoming atmosphere and immediately offered comfort. Looking around you could tell instantly that it was efficiently run and beautifully maintained. This was a special family visit and it was perfectWe travelled with a dog and fully expected our room to have a slight whiff of the previous doggy visitor, but there wasn’t a trace. Our room was well appointed, spotless, bed wonderfully comfortable and we were very happy with our one night stay. Right in the square so well placed for familiarizing ourselves with Melrose and surrounds.
There was nothing not to like really, except if I have to mention anything at all it was to do with the evening meal. Two people ordered sirloin steak. One said that it was the best she had tasted in a long while (she always has steak when dining out) and the other had a poor plateful of grizzly meat which was almost intact when it went back to the kitchen. He didn’t want to complain but I did think that when standards were so high and there were plenty of staff, that someone might have come to the table and apologized. It was plain to see what was wrong and it was a high price to pay for something which should never have left the kitchen. Standards were high, so why did this happen?
Town centre location, good parking in own car park, good sized single room, very comfortable and clean. Nice bar and dining area, very attentive staff.
Great location, great atmosphere and helpful staff
