Pros +
- Cute and charming with beautiful furnishings and a beautiful dining rooms. The staff (particular the woman at the front desk) were amazing and very friendly and helpful! Delicious food.
- The location and the friendly staff
- The location was optimal, and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. The breakfast options were great, and everything that we ordered was delicious. The rooms were all adequately comfortable.
Cons -
- The rooms are a bit small and the bathrooms have older plumbing. Both of these are of course common in the UK and especially in older buildings like this one- so not a negative at all, just something to be aware of.
- The soap dispenser shelf in the shower was broken and was left broken on the window sill and out of reach while showering
- Absolutely no complaints

Well decorated, modern yet with a great deal of charm and original features
Absolutely no complaints
Super comfortable and lovely little inn just outside Bowmore. Very easy to access with the public bus system from the ferry and distilleries in Port Ellen. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and I slept like a rock. I will be back!
lovely location and quiet. Restaurant was very good and the rooms were comfortable and cozy. would stay here again?
I just got done with three days with my nephew in Islay and stayed at the Bridgend Hotel. This was an absolute delight, the place exudes incredible charm and we would have had a very different experience had we stayed elsewhere. What utterly impressed me is the choice of artwork throughout, the halls and the rooms. This was tasteful and varied, and always engaging. This is miles above your usual chain hotels. The food is a vital part of the experience, locally sourced and served with such attention so as to make us feel conflicted eating elsewhere. Location wise this place cannot be beaten to see the whole island and a reasonable base for the distilleries. I cannot think of anything to improve. This place is a gem.
Leaving!
Friendly staff and family run. Great location for exploring Islay and lovely bluebell woods to walk/run in just besides the hotel as well as pub garden at the rear. Very dog friendly, nice bar and decent food. Comfortable rooms with excellent powerful showers, nice toiletries range and tidy decor.
Basic cereal, toast & jams (but good cooked breakfasts and also pastry/fruit/juice selection)
Most of the people were friendly. Unique building with some charming features.
Chair in the room was stained and too old. Room was tired and needs updating. Mattress and pillows not comfortable. Overpriced room.
The hotel was lovely and the staff were kind and fantastic. The hotel has an amazing restaurant with great food options. The location is in a prime position that makes it easy to drive to various distilleries and beaches on different points of the Island.
The room had everything we needed, and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend reserving a table for dinner. After dinner, you can move to the bar for a beer or whisky. Definitely recommended!
We were assigned room number 7, just behind the door next to the stairs, and we could hear people walking down the hallway, which was a bit disruptive at times.
Breakfast was lovely, didnt get time to try the dinner
Noise from bar when first arrived came through floor into bedroom
Very nice and bright room. Great breakfast. Excellent food in the restaurant.
Breakfast was fabulous, loved the dining room.
Struggled getting the toilets to flush?
Good location, great food, friendly staff. Small country hotel feel with big heart. Rooms can be a little small, but completely serviceable. Islay is small so they know everyone and vice versa.
Staff were friendly and accommodating!!! Location was perfect for exploring Islay. Excellent breakfast!! Parking was provided!
Evening menu was very good, but offered little variation in offerings day to day. Would have liked more seafood offerings...especially since Islay is an island with access to seafood!
Breakfast was brilliant and a great way to set up the day for some walking. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Location was well placed to explore Islay. Dog friendly.
Room was a little small for us all. Pillows a bit squishy for my tastes.
The food for breakfast and lunch was really great. Staff were all amazing and very welcoming. Bar, restaurant and hotel exterior very well presented.
The room was very dated, shower mould on silicone, handle falling off. Tv didn’t work properly, wardrobe door falling open. It was all very shabby and disappointing.
My parents were staying at Bridgend Hotel to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They loved their stay and I really appreciate your kindness in providing a card and bottle of prosecco in their room. They loved everything about the hotel including the delicious breakfast.
Nothing. It was perfect.
The food was excellent and plenty of it! I would recommend the Kullen Skink, the venison meatballs and venison burger in particular. All locally sourced. The Scottish breakfast was well cooked, used local ingredients (black and haggis puddings) and delicious. As was the coffee.
Get rid of Kronenberg and replace it with Staraprammen. Or at least, train your staff how to pour it!
