Pros +
- Simple, homely ambience.
- The restaurant was excellent and the staff were terrific.
- Right next to a short walk to the castle and a hike up to a high point that had amazing views. Had a pub right next to the reception area, nice that we didn't have to walk anywhere. Plus a gas station easily accessed.
Cons -
- Slightly isolated location . Cost of car ferry over to Inn.
- The room was quite small and not at all represented by the puctures.
- The water pressure in the shower is not very strong, and the en suite is looking a little tired.

The dining room and pub were charming and inviting, the food was excellent, and the staff were welcoming and efficient. My en suite at the front of the hotel was clean and functional, and I had a stunning view of the loch and the hills. The inn’s location is most convenient. Virtually next-door are the attractive castle grounds, and a lovely 10-minute walk put me on the castle’s doorstep and in the gardens. As well, the inter-city bus stop, shops, cafés, and restaurants are just steps from the inn’s door.
The water pressure in the shower is not very strong, and the en suite is looking a little tired.
The inn itself has a bar, a restaurant , outdoor dining and very friendly staff. It overlooks the loch however my bargain room overlooked a tour bus car park..I didn’t come here for the view.
There was actually nothing I didn’t like about the property. For my budget it was a little expensive, but much less than the other historic hotels.
Excellent location, great staff, great breakfast.
Bed mattresses were a bit worn. Not that comfortable.
Loved the location
Paid 182 for tiny room in attic looking into back yard double room with lake view was 180..fire alarm went off around 5.15 am couldnt get back to sleep checked out at 8 instead of 11
Clean, tidy and all the bits you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely location. Great dinner at the pub with brilliant service.
Location in Inveraray across from water and close to castle; bar and restaurant on site
Rooms were clean but spartan
Perfectly situated, nice compact room. Lovely lounge, with well stocked bar
Hotel parking facilities could be more clearly marked. No lift, stairs could be an issue
Perfect location, kind staff, comfortable and clean room, AMAZING food!
The location was outstanding.
Old hotel in need of revamping: very thin walls and ceiling, foolish smell, no hairdryer but the room was clean. Food and drinks were a disaster—the waiter didn’t/wouldn’t understand what a Dry Martini was, finally ordered a G&T which arrived in an inappropriate glass full of ice.
The location is beautiful and overlooks the water. Dog was very welcome in the bar.
Lovely old inn in a picturesque area, accesible location from multiple directions, nice view of the lake from the lake view rooms, excellent breakfast and great food at the hotel restaurant,
Arrived at the hotel at 3-20pm and nobody was on the front desk, took 10 minutes before someone arrived to check us in.
Location was great, nice friendly staff. Good breakfast. Beautiful view from bedroom window.
Small shabby room with tiny, not particularly clean en suite. Shower cubicle grubby & pillowcases smelled of someone else’s aftershave. Carpets need replacing in room and in common parts - dirty and worn. Room rate was £178 and didn’t include breakfast, which was another £30 (for two). Most expensive accommodation in our whole week in Scotland and we really expected much better.
location is perfect.
way over rated.... the price for the rooms way too much for what is offered. All very dated. Shower cubicle that you would expect to see in very cheap hotel.... oh and the room with a view.... the window was tiny and high so very limited outside view !...
We upgraded rooms once we arrived as we both felt that the standard double with no sea view was quite pokey.Breakfast and dinner were both pretty good. Staff were also spot on re customer service. They even put the Sun on for us on both days ?The Inn is just oozing with character.
Likes: Good location and facilities, nice staff, reasonably comfortable room. Restaurant looked nice as did the food, but we didn’t eat there.Dislikes: Not really worth the price, and our enjoyment was marred by mysterious thumping music coming from somewhere in the hotel, which woke us at 05.30h a carried on until we left that morning. Staff was informed but couldn’t account for it.
The food was excellent .The location is superb .The staff were very helpful .We will definatly be returning soon .
