Pros +
- Staff was super friendly and accommodating our needs despite the late arrival.
- We appreciated its location, stunning views over Loch Awe, cosy bar and excellent food. The place felt friendly and very homely.
- The location is astonishing. The walk around Ben Cruachan is amazing, and the inn is accessible by train. Having the pub and the shop within 100 meters meant we could arrive by train and do our whole trip without a car. The inn has excellent food and drink, too. The room was comfortable, and it was great having the self-catering facilities. Despite my quibbles below, I have already recommended this inn to several friends.
Cons -
- Bar and restaurant close a bit early.
- Quite a few details could be improved in the room. The lighting in the bedroom was bright, cold lighting, which meant we couldn't read in bed before sleep. The fire alarm was right by the bed, illuminated, and flashed all night. The fire alarm went off randomly three times. The slatted blind in our bedroom did not provide sufficient privacy. The main room could have used more shelves or an extra table. There were only four coat hangers in the cupboard. Each of these details is small, but they added up: the room felt designed for a one-night stay, not a longer trip. A tiny bit of extra care would go such a long way here.
- The bed was way too soft, very squishy.

The staff were friendly and welcoming, the views were lovely and a comfortable room
Friendly ,casual, comfortable with a lovely view.Great food also.
Property overlooks Loch Awe, one of my favourite places in Scotland - stunning location. We didn’t eat in Restaurant as had eaten earlier but we had a drink in the bar. Great ambiance, staff were very pleasant and attentive and were working very hard!
It had good parking, a lovely comfortable room, excellent shower and scrummy food.
The location was beautiful with a stunning view from the balcony.
The bed was way too soft, very squishy.
The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The food served in the restaurant was exceptional. Very friendly helpful staff ?
The suites are excellent with great views across the Loch. Well appointed with adequate kitchen, sitting room and small but comfortable bedroom.
Lovely inn and restaurant with immaculate roomsWhich were modern and clean
The food was nice but I felt it was expensive for the portion prices and there wasn’t much choice on the menu
staff was very nice. location is beautiful. rooms are a good size with great biscuits as a treat. dinner in the restaurant was tasty
rooms could use some a little upgrade and cleaning up. there was construction happening outside our window all night which I understand is not the hotels fault but good question to ask if you can be put in a room off the main road.
Bar and dinner are a great facility. Staff friendly and helpful
I understand not doing a cooked breakfast option in winter but a continental breakfast laid out would have been good especially as the hotel had several rooms out.
Very comfortable rooms with nice view
No hanging space/hooks in the bathroom so nowhere to put towels
Easy to check in, the chap at the desk was very friendly and helpful. Nice room that had a kitchenette. Was great and we will be back.
Well located, friendly staff and decent bar/food. Room was basic but modern, clean and in good condition.
Minor points but a larger table/desk in the room would be good as well as somewhere to hang wet clothes.
Ideal location, staff were nice, helpful and friendly, food was amazing, room was clean and bed was comfy
Everything was in good condition and clean. Room was a nice size with homely touches. Welcome by staff was nice and dinner was lovely.
Walls a bit thin, which was a problem when there was a dog next door that barked at movement.Website stated free breakfast (continental) however didn’t specify this was only if booked directly with the website.
Meal was nice
At reception they could not find the booking, the heater in the room was not working properly and the very thin duvet meant I woke at 2am cold.At booking and in the guide it stated all guests would get a complimentary breakfast but I was informed it was extra.
Very clean.. everything you need.. dog friendly
Quite pricey for food
