    Pros +

    • Beautiful big room with very comfortable bed and ambient room temperature
    • Ease of check-in and easy parking. The grounds of the hotel were very nice to walk around aswell.
    • Beautiful property and grounds. Rooms are quaint and charming but somewhat dated.

    Cons -

    • Breakfast- very poor choices and quality. Coffee served in a pump vacuum flask. Breakfast staff seemed vacant. Numerous tables required clearing/ cleaning but staff seemed oblivious.
    • Booked with different wedding venues each night of the weekend = lots of people partying, up late, loud music etc. This is great if you're in the wedding but not great if you didn't want to be part of someone else's wedding weekend...
    • Our room was very cold. The hot water radiator was not as warm as it needed to be and the portable electric heater provided could not make much of a contribution. We requested an additional comforter for the bed and that solved the problem for night time. A safe was provided in the room but it was not bolted down and could be carried away quite easily.

The hotel is an impressive period property set in a well maintained park. The restaurant is excellent. The cookies provided in the room were very good and much appreciated. The staff are very welcoming and helpful.

    Lovey grounds

Arrived late at night. Reception staff friendly but room was disappointing and very unclean. I was in the stables - room 50. So much hair (I think dog hair) all over the bed and throw..hairs in the shower tray and used cotton wool pads left in the bathroom. Walls very thin so could hear everything in the next room. Room felt very tired and grimy. Wouldn’t stay again.

I liked everything, I had all the things I needed. Staff were nice, polite and helpful, place was clean, facilities were good.

The only thing I didn't like is that the bed was incredibly firm, which didn't make for a great night's sleep.

Wonderful property. Great breakfast in a lovely setting. Staff friendly and professional. Comfortable bed.

If I'm being picky, I would have preferred proper milk.

    Beautiful historic building and gardens

Tiny room that lights were not working. They were supposed to credit our breakfast in lieu of a miss- functioning room but have not seen it

    Beautiful setting. Good/drink on location

It was extremely hot and the fans didn’t really help to cool down the rooms

The building and surrounding grounds are absolutely stunning, and the interior décor of the main house is of museum quality. We stayed in the stables during this visit, but will definitely choose the main house next time. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful throughout our stay. Even the maintenance team took the time to greet us, which we found to be a particularly professional and welcoming touch. Our room was clean and comfortable and refreshing to see sufficient power sockets for charging our devices.

We did notice that one of the forks at dinner had not been properly cleaned, which was a minor disappointment, however when we reported it, it was quickly dealt with.

Gorgeous building, full of history and well kept gardens. Truly stunning.

Our room was dirty and so dusty. No ventilation or AC. Walls were dirty. We had a superior room (£187 the night) in which we could barely open the windows because of some scaffolding and a disgusting amount of bird poo and feather (see pictures). The head bed was by far the worst, so dusty than went I went to bed the particules were flying around like crazy and my skin started to each. I was so incredibly uncomfortable (see photo). Upon leaving we were hoping to give some feedback to the reception but it felt like a Tesco checkout as opposed to a 4* hotel checkout. 2 women were working, one “looked after” us, asking for the room number and then said “it’s *amount* to pay please” as we had a tab opened. She didn’t ask how was the day nor wished us a nice day - nothing. The previous evening we were at the bar to play some games and enjoyed the outdoors. One of the staff member forgot to order my partners meal. Service was not up to scratch although this particular staff was very kind, apologetic and clearly not ready to be left working alone in a room.

I love everything about the location, the environment and food

more varieties in relation to breakfast e.g. providing oat as part of the breakfast rather than pay for it separately.

It’s spectacular! So much to look at and read about, beautiful furnishings and tons of history. I was wandering about very late at night and there’s a lovely, warm and welcoming feeling, even when it’s completely quiet!

    Nothing, I loved it!

Had full English breakfast, good choice, nice quality

Arrived at 9 pm so quite dark and walk to hotel fromCar park was difficult to navigate. Lighting could be improved.

Breakfast great value staff extremely helpful

Rooms were clean and spacious but slight wear and tear was noted

Lovely parkland setting. The main hotel building is pretty spectacular too. The stables is poorly and cheaply converted. No historic character internally. Hard bed, no sweetners, very dated and aged decor, no privacy blind to room. Good size bedroom, TV and bathroom with good hot water and power. Poor service and limited staff. Wouldn't stay again.

    As above

Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Food delicious and the setting beautiful

    10ScarletPosted on: 4-25-2025

I loved the bedroom number 109, the bathroom was very nice, the bed very comfortable, the room view over the gardens was perfect, I originally was given a stable room but upgraded to in house, staff on reception were very good.. The bar is beautiful and lovely people serving. I ate a lovely vegan burger, very happy to see that on the menu.

Room 109 bathroom door very squeaky and during the night if one of us went to the toilet it woke the other up with the loud squeaking opening and closing of the door and it spoiled both our sleeps and we were both so tired by the time to get up because of broken sleep. I did mention to reception on check out that it needs oiling..

The hotel was fantastic, perfect in fact! The hotel itself is absolutely gorgeous, steeped in rich history and the staff were very pleasant. Our room was fantastic! Everything was so clean, neat and tidy. It was the best hotel that we have every stayed in and we will be back!

Leaving! I wish we could have stayed longer! :)

Lovely characterful property, clean and comfy beds!

For a deluxe room that was meant to be set up as a twin for the first night, it was really too small to have the beds spread out and there wasn't really enough room to be comfortable.
