- Location
- Great welcome, warm atmosphere in dining room and bar though a bit loud due to some other guests!! Spacious room. Nice outlook.
- The rooms are excellent, very clean. The room we were in was spacious with a beautiful ocean view. The train station is right around the corner, walking distance. Staff are very polite and extremely helpful.
Cons -
- Cold room / Broken room heater / single glazed windows / tepid radiators / no tv controls ( none brought to room when reported missing)
- Very noisy guests in dining room! Men's golf weekend away and women's night out! the raucousness should have been dealt with by staff for the comfort of other guests.
- When I arrived there was no one to be seen so had to shout for attention to be the greeted by a young lady who had no pleasant small talk to make feel welcome, as a lone woman travelling for work, I feel this is important. Once I had my key I went to find my room ( the place is like a maze) got in my room (which was quite small) went to make a coffee after a long journey to find the kettle didn’t fit in the tiny sink. You have to book for your evening meal which I did and decided to have it in the bar as this was smaller and cosier but when I went at my allotted time, it was full so had to sit in the restaurant which is bigger and so very quiet. I found the staff very young and inexperienced to the hospitality industry as they didn’t make me feel comfortable at all. I won’t be returning or recommending this establishment.

Very disappointed

The location was very handy, close to the train station and the High Street. Easy pick up and drop off for taxis too.
The rooms are small and the space not well used, creating a feeling of being cramped. The beds are very soft and akin to sleeping on a bouncy castle. The shower took a noticeable amount of time to warm up and the food was not worth the cost attributed to it. Very beige scrambled eggs, a bechamel sauce that clumped and slipped off the Eggs Royale. The coffee was also very bitter.
comfy bed
overall the hotel looks quite tired and need of some TLC...our room was also above a Chinese restaurant & the smell was overpowering when we can back to our room in the evening.
Room was very clean, breakfast was lovely, staff very accommodating
Bit outdated however just wanted a bed suited my needs
Property needs a bit more tlc. Parking is limited.and the grounds could do with a bit of a tidy. Room door keys were a bit problematic. However for our 2 day stay it was OK.
Lovely, welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. The room was very clean with everything you could want. The toiletries were perfect and the tea / coffee tray was well stocked. I LOVED the bath towel. I think it was the biggest, thickest towel I've ever seen!!!
The location is perfect to the harbour and the train station. It has period features in the dining room and the meal offers for lunch and dinner are fantastic. The bedding and towels are pristine .
The bedroom was above a chinese so on arrival the smell of the chinese was overwhelming to start with. The spillages in the paint work in the bathroom need a wee clean and I had to report the sink which was coming away from the wall. The staff were very helpful and accommodating when this was reported to them . My room was above the one way system so it’s a busy street with heavy goods from 03:00 which as a light sleeper was tiring for two nights break away.
Comfy bed, spotless room, powerful shower. Useful furnishings
Great location, reasonable pricing.Craig (Night Porter) is a fantastic guy & a real credit to the establishment.
Not a whole lot to dislike really.
Was perfect location near the Main Street and the train station
Mattress was extremely soft.
Nothing really.
Dirty expensive dark small
Room was large and comfortable, clean and had nice bathroom. The dinner was exceptional and breakfast had a wide choice and was also delicious. Easy parking and the hotel was beautifully "old Scottish".
Unfortunately staff were short and a bit surly
Unpretentious, comfortable, we felt very relaxed
On main road so a little noisy late at night
Friendly, great breakfast, very handy for rail station and bus connections.
Hot water was very slow in coming through.
Room was comfortable, bed was great. Location was great.
The water in the shower was not very hot - luke warm at best. Wifi was also extremely slow at times.
Central Hotel, extremely nice staff who are very considerate kind and friendly. The food is excellent especially the giant Yorkshire pudding beef steak
I was in room 15 which is above an oriental takeaway and the smell was present in the room
Kind staff
Rowdy in bar but not hotels fault. No bedside light working on room 20
