    Pros +

    • stayed here many times in the past both for work and pleasure, good location and service. staff very good.
    • Friendly and welcoming. Breakfast the best, Although a lil big for our tummies. Clean and tidy accommodation. Lovely little village.
    • An extremely warm welcome, polite and very helpful staff. Delicious food, very reasonable prices. Comfortable room. Lovely breakfast. All together a really nice stay. The funeral wake was excellent too.

    Cons -

    • its pub not a hotel so no leisure area to chill only the room , but its fine and good value and the food is nice, we will use it again in the future.
    • The only thing and I think it only happened because there was a pool tournament, was the noise when everyone was leaving and chatting out side. I was in room 10 and it was noisy. After they left it was fine.
    • Although breakfast was good and we fully understand reasons, we were disappointed not to have option of cooked breakfast. The meals we had in restaurant were excellent.

Really lovely village location, we found some beautiful local walks. Friendly staff and very clean, comfortable room. We had a great meal in the evening too.

Some noise in the evening but quiet from 11pm. Only to be expected on a warm, sunny evening!

The staff were lovely and the rooms were a nice size with comfortable beds. The village was very pretty and quiet. The food was tasty

There was a generator noise we could hear through the walls all night which unfortunately meant we didn't get a good night's sleep. One of the fryers broke and our dinner took 2 hours to come. The curtains are very light so need an eye mask if you want to try to sleep in in the morning.

Dog friendly and the rooms were very clean and tidy. My dog loved the Digs Dinner from the evening menu!

Exactly where I needed it to be.Comfy room and everything I needed

Wonderful menu cancelled for Quiz Night and an OK curry dish was available.Breakfast very basic, help yourself

    Excellent ‘bonus’ breakfast

Room 6 was clean but tired. Could do with decorating. Bed was uncomfortable, very bouncy and we did not sleep well.

Good location pretty village friendly atmosphere

Long wait for meals sometimes but wasn't a problem

    9SarahPosted on: 4-14-2025

Lovely walks from the door, good food and great value for money.

Room was spacious and bed comfortable.Plenty of drawer space. Not a vast dinner menu and some dishes were not available.Very good continental breakfast with good choice.

Not much hanging room had we been staying longer. Empty beer kegs were below bedroom window and were often moved out there at night.

The village of Otterton is charming, especially in spring, when in full bloom. The area is really lovely, and staying in Otterton is a great base for walking along the river Otter and exploring villages and towns further east and west.We received a warm welcome by the manager on duty, and found our room, room N1, to look just like in the advertised picture, a very pleasant, cosy decor and a decent space, which was why it was chosen. We soon encountered a problem, but the staff was very understanding & helpful; We were able to change rooms and our second room - room 11- was very charming, cosy and spacious... as well as quiet! The wi dows were clean and easy to open for airing if needed. The bathroom had all you'd expect and was warm, as was the shower. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. There is plenty of space downstairs for dining or lounging, not least a comfortable Sofa. There are some nice ales and wines on the drinks menu, and the coffee is good, too. Food is fair.Service is friendly and accommodating. The place is kept clean. There is a grassy " beer garden" bordered by sweet-smelling Alexanders on a small hill at the back of the establishment, which allows for pleasant views over the village and towards the church on the opposite hill.

We were very surprised to find that in the room we initially booked, we could hear loud beats and tunes of very rhythmic dance style music coming from downstairs. It turned out that this music came from the kitchen, which was directly below our room ( and 2 neighboring rooms). We informed the manager who said she'd ask for the music to be turned down. We went to have dinner, but unfortunately found the problem to be the same, later on, when we went back up to retire to our room and relax... And we were told it was a bit of a recurring issue...Thankfully, when I asked if we could get a different room of the same standing as the one we booked, but away from the kitchen, we were able to get a room on the other side of the pub, which was both very nice and pretty quiet. So our stay was saved.
