- Lovely staff Great room
- Location & lovely staff
- The staff were lovely and accommodating. They even left a little card in our room, as we were sadly there for a funeral. The food was excellent and they were great with dietary requirements. The sauna and pool cleaning combo was exactly what we needed after our long commute.
Cons -
- Very dated, worn carpets in corridors, needs painting, ugly plastic flowers at front entrance to hotel, reception very tatty, hot water system difficult to regulate, Mould in bathroom in room 206 staff kindly offered us a better room.Stay first evening for evening meal, not overly impressed so decided to eat elsewhere.
- Sadly, the tartan carpet everywhere is of a time and the rooms are a little older in style, but this is just personal taste.

Excellent breakfast and dinner! Walks around the grounds, including to the relief map of Scotland created by Polish officers in thanks for Scottish hospitality during WWII.
The staff were extremely friendly especially Rosie who was our waitress for 2 nights out of 3 she went above and beyond too look after us and always smiling and chatty
Nothing I can think off
Great breakfast and dinner
No view from room and bathroom needed renovating
Lovely location, beautiful grounds, staff lovely and helpful, breakfast fabulous , in fairness, we enjoyed our stay overall.
Our room was ok, but the heat!!! It was like a sauna in there! Had to sleep with the window open and the noise was loud on the Tuesday at dawn...it was grand the next dawn, spoke to reception and explained our predicament, advised we wanted another room, that was no problem but all the rooms were the same so decided to stay and asked housekeeping to provide a sheet instead of duvet, I would have thought that should have been part of the bedding anyway ? the shower was appalling, advised by sign on tiled wall that you needed a shower matt...why wasn't one given when receiving our keys?? Was naked and just about to step in when I read this!!!!!! Was fuming and in stitches at the same time ? floor creaked a lot but got used to it ...
5/10 score. Rooms are dated, no usb connection for charging
Very dark even during the day. Food was not what I expected, the pigeon breast was over cooked and the pork belly was awful, the crackling was too tuff to cut. Food quality in general was not what was expected, breakfast was disappointing as I had to pay additional funds for the smoked haddock which again was very dry. Not sure how the restaurant has won awards?
Amazing staff service. Nothing was too much from carrying luggage, finding adapters and to any requests. The grounds of the hotel are lovely. There is plenty of parking. Reasonable rates for rooms and food. It was a perfect stay!
Good room. Comfortable bed. Excellent dinner and breakfast.
Not much.
All of the staff were amazing, so, so friendly and very helpful. I witnessed one young female staff member being spoken to appallingly by a very rude guest & even she managed to remain friendly, polite and helpful! The facilities, the food, the pool and bar are excellent. Love the location and the castle-y vibes! Some parts of the hotel are a little worn....but it adds to the charm! The grounds too are beautiful, it is so peaceful and magical staying there. It is just a short drive to Peebles itself, which is a beautiful little town full of independent shops, lovely cafes and very friendly people. We would definitely stay again.
Lovely setting and building.Lovely area. Staff were really welcoming, helpful and friendly. Decent dinner. The Polish map was fun.
Breakfast was disappointing - we were told it was less busy later, so we waited till after 9, but the bacon was hard and leathery, the scrambled egg solid and congealed, with rock hard grey/pink salty sausage. We regularly travel from the Midlands to the Highlands, often looking for the most reasonably priced option, but this stay was at the top of our normal budget, intended as a luxurious treat after a rough few weeks. This didn't have the feel of a luxury treat, especially our room, which was a bit shabby and in need of some TLC with disappointing view over the extensive bin store! We did enjoy ourselves, and the people were very nice, but to be honest, this felt more like one of our budget trips.
Picturesque property, room a little boring. It had all the amenities and a great breakfast selection
The bed was a little hard, desk lamp didn’t work
Sufficient parking, friendly and efficient reception, good size room. Friendly staff. Nice outside sitting area.
Staff in restaurant was not up to standard. Young and unexperienced, forgot several things during dinner like giving the ordered drinks or other requested items. Breakfast started later than 730. The bed was way too hard for me, very uncomfortable.
location great , staff could not have been more helpful
only Tv in bar - something more to do at night
Lovely room and great facilities. Food was excellent
Breakfast was decent although it was essentially a self service buffet. The evening meal was likewise pretty good.
At weekends there didn't appear to be an option to order something freshly cooked from the menu. For example eggs Benedict was on the menu but we were advised it was self service only.
It has a pool, it was dog friendly. Staff were friendly. It was relaxing
Great food and service from staff.
It wasn’t the room that I got from your pictures. Shower was in a bath and shower head was not working properly when stretched to gain height. Water temperature was hit and miss also. Bed was also not safe as it wobble quite a bit.
Grounds were amazing some great walks
The room was awfulSuch a let down the view just looked on side of building, furniture worn and the bed so uncomfortable didn’t get much sleep
