Nice owner and personnel - excellent pubfood.Good hot bath
The breakfast was excellent - great choice of cooked and superb scrambled egg particularly (I am fussy!). The restaurant was tasty and they had a fun, free quiz night. The bar owner was very friendly and there were games to play. Also, the bed was super comfortable after we had trekked so many miles and were exhausted from camping. The tea and coffee, hot chocolate and biscuit selection in the room was great and there were books and magazines to borrow which, as a book worm with 3 days camping without a book, I was overjoyed by! We were made very welcome! The room was lovely and warm and quiet.
Spacious bedroom with large bathroom and sitting room.

Lovely staff. Very clean rooms. Very tasty cooked breakfast.
The bed in our room was a bit too soft - teviot? room I think.
Great location Home cooked food prepared by a really enthusiastic woman who was experimenting with a dairy and gluten free batter for a customer and sharing samples of her new cappuccino rice pudding. Perfect stop for walkers
Comfortable beds breakfast great also had a lovely meal
Couches in apartments need repadding or renewed as uncomfortable
Had the pleasure of staying here when I had to make a last minute visit to the area.Staff were polite and friendly. Room was clean and more than enough for me. Internet enabled smart tv for Netflix etc. Food was fantastic. Will definitely stay here again the next time I'm in the area.
Great location on multiple hiking routes, comfortable room, friendly staff, TV had ability to use streaming service.Great attention to detail - when booking hotels I mention I have coeliac disease so there are no problems at breakfast. I was very impressed that the owners had gone the extra mile and swapped out the biscuits in the room for gluten free snacks - it's rare this happens even at more 'sophisticated' hotels.
Only external window was a skylight, only other window was internal looking out into a corridor.
The staff and the food
Bedroom is on a par with most hotels in scottish borders, dated.Nothing wrong with the bathrooms but they certainly need to update the furniture and beds.Dirty matks on walls and lots of cobwebs, a minor dislike is when you order a superior double room why is it two singles pushed together!!
Super nice People, very nice pub and hotel. After walking 10 days on the Pennine Way, this was a really great finish!
Our rooms were huge & fabulous. So comfy & quiet. Food was delicious too.
Perfectly located at the end of the Pennine Way. Fantastic food and lovely, friendly staff. Huge, comfortable double bed. I stayed in the Cheviot room.
Breakfast was excellent, location was superb
Double duvet on single beds as the single duvet came off.
Our room was very comfortable and cozy, with beautiful views to the hills from our window.Dinner and breakfasts were delicious, and the owner and staff were very friendly. We would happily stay there again if we come back to UK.Lynne and Mal- Victoria Australia
