Pros +
- The Dumfries Arms Hotel offers friendly, smiling, and efficient staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The food is consistently good, well prepared, and well presented. The rooms are comfortable, spotless, and clearly well cared for, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy your stay.
- The staff were really helpful and the hotel was very comfotable. My wife loved the cocktails. The staff could not have done more when i became ill - thankyou so much.
- Food good
Cons -
- In the part of the hotel where I stayed, there was no lift, and the stairs were quite a climb. This didn’t put me off re‑booking, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re booking for someone with a disability, older guests, families with prams, or anyone travelling with heavy luggage. I’m sure the staff would happily help, they’re fantastic, but it’s still worth considering in advance.
- Nothing to dislike.
- Quiet .Empty dining room.Perhaps due to the time of year.

Staff were exceptionally helpful & cheery
Only slight problem with boiler overnight so no hot water for showers in the morning
Very comfortable. Bed was huge. Breakfast superb
The pillows could do with being plumper
Very clean.
Only one lift to first floor, No lift to the room for me elderly parents. The rooms were far too hot making it uncomfortable. The radiators wouldn't turn off and having the window open at night was too noisy. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast tiny. The staff were okay but not the friendliest.
It was lovely with friendly bikes. The breakfadt was good & the staff very helpful. It is in good location being in walking distance to tue centre of the town but not noisy.
Beautiful hotel , room was lovely, very comfortable. Had a lovely evening meal and breakfast. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Can't fault anything.
Good location staff very friendly
Bed wasn’t very comfortable and were drainage issues in bathroom
The restaurant was great quality. Staff were great. Lovely hotel.
Did not like adjoining doors in rooms. I could hear the person in the next room clear as day.
Breakfast was fantastic l think in part because food was local produce . Staff are so friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
I enjoyed everything about my stay .
Lovely staff and good value for money
To in room didn’t work and room was too hot breakfast was a bit overcooked or held on hot plate too long
This was my second stay at the Dumfries Arms Hotel. The room was lovely and spacious ,quiet and comfortable.Very clean and furnished to a high standard. Thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast each morning with a great choice of options and also dined in for an evening meal in the restaurant. The food was delicious and the hotel staff all friendly and helpful.Wouldnt stay anywhere else in Cumnock.
My room was on the second floor , which was a bit of a climb with heavy luggage. The stairs are very steep so not ideal if you struggle with mobility. When I asked about the lift was informed it didn't go to the second floor !
Great location and good car parking facilities Reception, lounge and dining areas very nicely decorated and comfortable Night porter exceptional , very helpful thanks
Bedrooms are tired…Room 34…Window wouldn’t close properly lots of street noise Bed mattress well Passed it lumps and bumpsLights in room not plugged in no socket available Carpets looking well usedVery slow service for breakfast, perhaps understaffed ???
Good
Strange smell in the room upon arrival. Coming from the bathroom. Mixture of cleaner products and drains.
All staff were very friendly.Breakfast was nice and tasty.Room comfortable and clean.Location was in the town centre and ideal for a wedding we were attending at Lochside.
great breakfast lovely staff stayed here many times brill hotel
everything was spot on as always
Conveniently located, comfortable and lovely food. The restaurant and bar staff were delightful
Room quite small, carried suitcases up 2 floors, no lift
Convenient position with car parking. The event room was excellent, and the evening meal was good.
The upstairs floor squeaked like crazy, there was no way you could get to your room quietly .Entering the room there was a distinct drain smell, possibly from the shower trap. The shower tray had chips and marks on it, the shower door seal didn’t fit, which probably accounts for the missing floor tile grout which left sharp corners and edges of the floor tiles exposed. Toilet and basin were lovely and clean. The room itself was dark and tired looking and overlooked the rear car park which was full of litter. Whilst the kitchen was in operation there was a continuous loud humming from the extractor fan. Our evening meal was good, but the breakfast was all over cooked.
Loved the boutique vibe - very sleek stylish and clean. Bed was very comfortable and room was nice.
Our shower was terrible - low water pressure was difficult to wash my hair.
