Alway efficient, seamless service, without any fuss.

Rather expensive, but worth it for a special ocassion. Ours a 70th birthday.

Breakfast, one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had! ( even GF) and I spend around 40 to 50 nights a year in hotels. I had a basic ground floor room but it was excellent.

Unfortunately, and it probably was a bad choice, I ordered the braised beef which I was assured could come gluten free. It arrived looking like fatty, grey meat reminiscent of school dinners. I didn't even touch it but the serving staff did not notice this until they were clearing the main courses. At that point they offered to provide an alternative but as my friend had finished her main it wasn't appropriate timing wise. I ordered a pudding and left it at that. When checking out I had to insist that the main was removed from my bill. I would have hoped and expected that to have happened without comment.

Stunning charming country hotel, excellent service, food and decor. Surrounding area was easily walkable. In the edge of the Chatsworth Estate which was lovely to explore. Room was well equipped.

Not a whole lot to say…

Perfect location for visiting Chatsworth House

Tried twice to contact the hotel by email only to get an automated message saying they were very busy but would respond in 72 hours … I never received any response. We stayed in Room 6 which is right above reception and garden room .We found it to be noisy while the restaurant was open and in the morning we were woken at 5.30am by music being played

    5ClairePosted on: 3-24-2025

Food was delicious. The blonde waitress in the Garden Room was very good.

Totally ignored for about ten minutes on our arrival. Reception desk was unmanned and despite being passed (unacknowledged) by numerous staff (all avoiding eye contact) and a man rushing about looking flustered (who I assumed was the manager) I had to eventually go and ask a waitress if we could actually check in! Shortly after a young man arrived, handed us our key and sent us off with vague directions on how to find our room. We didn’t need help carrying bags but I would’ve expected to be shown there. The dinner in the Garden Room was delicious but the star of the stay was the blonde waitress who served us. Knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. I suggest she gets a role in staff training!

The style of the decor. The location was excellent The food & cocktails were lovely

There was nothing not to like

We had an excellent stay and also allowed to bring our Black Lab to stay with us as well, which was a bonus.

Minor point, there was a grumpy female member of staff, which looked like she needed a holiday and away from hospitality!

Stunning location sumptuous rooms food wonderful

Hard to find any fault at all… tiniest of grumbles no loo roll holder so we kept changing where to pop it..

It is conveniently situated on the main road with ample parking at rear and free EV charge for guests. Beautifully appointed rooms and excellent food.

    Rural setting

Rooms were very noisy. Bar was over priced for what it was.

    Beautiful hotel and accomodation

Room hadn't been thoroughly cleaned (thick dust on bathroom lamps...Food was overpriced (compared to some Michelin starred restaurants)restaurants service was poor (waited for over 30 minutes between starters and main course)

    9SusanPosted on: 1-1-2025

Lovely hotel, really close to Chatsworth, room was comfortable, no sundries in bathroom , ie Cotten pads etc. clean and cosy though with a really nice breakfast and a good selection on the evening menu.

Other than a few bits missing from the bathroom everything else was great.

    8MariePosted on: 12-23-2024

Location was perfect, good parking, room was beautifully furnished with lovely views from the windows. Very peaceful. Bar and Garden Room were gorgeous.

Vegetarian menu in Gallery restaurant was limited, but the early bird in the Garden room was excellent. The room was not well ventilated and windows wouldn't open. Breakfast was not included in the price, which was quite expensive for room only.

Wonderful decor, delicious food and helpful staff. Great for a country-side getaway.
