    • Great location, very cozy and comfortable, great food. Our room was excellent.
    • Lovely hotel. Clean and lovely decor. Great location and staff service was excellent.
    • Room Comfortable,

    Cons -

    • Can't fault the place at all.
    • The bed was made up of two mattresses which meant there was a gap in the middle. I appreciate that being able to make the room into a twin might be needed but a mattress topper would make this better for a couple in the same bed. Also mattresses were a tad hard.
    • Sunday roast vas very poor with very tough beef and roast potatoes with tough skins. No self service for breakfast means that everything has to be brought to table and limits choice. Cold coffee.

Excellent rooms, very well equipped with beautiful decor and coffee machine. Super comfy beds. The lobby, restaurant and bar had a great atmosphere and the breakfast was delicious. Super friendly staff and kids are welcome. Highly recommend.

Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was better than expected. Hotel busy but comfortable.

Our standard room in the newer part of the building had paper thin walls. I think in this case paying extra for the superior room might have been worthwhile.

Location excellent and breakfast included was very good .

Initial reception poor No carpark code given and I’m partially disabled and no offer of help with suitcases up to the room bearing in mind no lift .

Woken at 06:50 by road works outside window, reported to Duty Manager and ignored. Give it a miss.

We were woken at 06:50 on a Public Holiday (Good Friday) by roadworkers using a grinding wheel directly outside our window and then shortly afterward using the wacker plate on the new tarmac. We reported this amicably to the Duty Manager at breakfast, who promised to look into it and adjust our bill accordingly as compensation. By the time we checked out, we received no message in our room, no calls/text/e-mail, no word whatsoever and - surprise surprise - no adjustment to our bill. Also the toilet seat was broken and keeps slipping from side-to-side as you can see in the photos and there is no shelf or cabinet in the bathroom meaning you have to pile your belongings on top of the toilet. If you are looking for peace & tranquillity in the Peak District - and especially if you are looking for any degree of customer service - give this place a miss.

Excellent breakfast. Comfortable bed. We don't drink coffee, but was nice to see a coffee pod machine. Amazing water pressure. Nice size room.

Really tiny and annoyingly placed wardrobe. Was awkward to get into. Could you just turn it around?Toilet roll didn't get replaced - had to ask at reception. Would have liked to have opened window wider or been able to open 2nd window - was stuffy.

Staff on a evening wasn't good , asked for a table but hadn't booked, young lad told us to wait and never returned so stood waiting , asked someone else who took us to the bar not a problem but didn't come to take order so had to find someone again, order took waited along time for drinks , food arrived with no cutlery asked for some, same young man at before said will get , didn't come back , we sat waiting n saw him walk by with plates of food for other people , again had to get up and find another member while food getting cold , little details but not great service

Great location, friendly staff, lovely decor and nice details in the room.

Had a room on the roadside, which was quite noisy, beds and pillows could have been more comfortable.

We came to the George for my husbands birthday for one night and really enjoyed it. The hotel and staff are amazing and the room had a huge comfy bed with lovely white company soaps and shampoo, coffee machine, water and the staff had left some chocolates and a note for my husband which i thought was a lovely touch. We did have a room at the front of the hotel which was really noisy from the road traffic, which if i had know would of asked for a room at the back as i am a really light sleeper. The breakfast service was really slow and we waited 45 minutes but when it arrived the produce was really good and the staff were really friendly. I would highly recommend the hotel but would suggest maybe putting earplugs in the bedroom and more staff at beskfast?.

Lovely building and surroundings good location..room was a little disappointing.. toilet seat and handle broken and damp on the ceiling in the bedroom pillows could be better abit on the flat side

    8JohnPosted on: 4-11-2025

Very nice pub/hotel the only thing that we feel let it down was the food, nothing was freshly cooked all had been pre-cooked sometime before it was served, breakfast and dinner could have been so much better and we would probably have eaten there more often.

Excellent facilities, staff engaging, and very professional. Breakfast superb. Location brilliant.

    9LindaPosted on: 4-7-2025

Perfect decor and style. Beautiful surroundings

Room a little too warm, loo roll holder in an awkward place

    9AnnaPosted on: 4-5-2025

The accommodation was excellent. The ambiance in the bar and restaurant was great and the had a nice outside terrace for drinks. The food was just about ok. We went for a pizza the second night which was better.
