- Gorgeous location, really warm and friendly welcome, the staff were so lovely! Breakfast stunning
- Beautiful hotel in a lovely village and only a mile from Bakewell. There are loads of walks from the village up into the Dales. Lovely room with the most delicious vanilla choux buns left as a welcome gift. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful . Breakfast with homemade granola was delicious.
Cons -
- Nothing at all, it was a perfect experience
- We aren’t averse to paying good money for drinks but £16 for a large pinot…I was shocked, even in high end bars in NYC and other locations, I haven’t paid this! £30 for 2 drinks, one being a single shot was really disappointing
- A little bit hot and the fan didn’t work well.

A little bit hot and the fan didn’t work well.
Clean, fresh, comfortable Restaurant, food was amazing
absolutely excellent food. delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner! the staff are wonderful. the location is brilliant. we had a perfect stay and will definitely return to this classy hotel.
the bathroom had a bit of mould along the sealing of the bathtub. other than this there was absolutely nothing to complain about in the hotel.
Delightful setting in Ashford in the Water.Stayed on ground floor, lovely patio area to sit outside.Breakfast was lovely.
Room very good. Comfortable bed. Breakfast excellent. Staff very good and helpful. Lovely location 0n village.
Not much.
Lovely chilled calm atmosphere. Professional but super friendly staff. Upgraded free of charge as it was our anniversary and maybe because it was a Sunday. The Kingfisher room was fabulous. Great quality breakfast - nothing was too much trouble. Would certainly recommend for a romantic get away.
Nothing we didn't like.... someone may want to secure the cold tap in the bathroom (may be hasn't been mentioned before and forgot to say when we checked out).
Super friendly staff. Beautiful location. Updated room. Wonderful breakfast
Rooms and common areas are very clean and it is a lovely building and location
The bar did close quite early
Lovely hotel in a wonderful village. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and helpful, a real credit to the hotel. The hotel is nicely decorated and the grounds beautifully kept. Excellent stay, we loved it
Squeaky bed, which was a little soft for us. No AC (this is an old house so bear that in mind - we don't have AC at home either) - However a very good fan is provided so wasn't an issue for us.
The location was beautiful, the staff were wonderful and friendly and the room was clean and comfortable.
Young man who served us Sunday Lunch was very friendly and courteous an asset to the hotel. Sunday Lunch was deliciousThe room was lovely and having a patio was a bonus. Would stay again if in the area.
I think the hotel should open each day and have staff working through the night,
Amazing staff, all really friendly. Great hotel, location and breakfast
The property location and staff were great.
We were contacted re booking into the restaurant for an evening meal, which we did. However the meal although nice food was overpriced and not value for money. The atmosphere was a little pretentious and everyone was seated in the same area of the dining room due to the small number of covers which meant everyone could hear each other’s conversations, which detracted from the overall ambiance. The lack of choice on the menu was disappointing and generally not value for money.
The hotel was clean and modern, including the room, and the staff were very conscientious and friendly. Plenty of resources in the hotel for what to do in the local area if needed. We both agree the breakfast was exceptional, the best breakfast we have ever had at a hotel. The ingredients were fresh, great selection of options and it was all cooked to perfection.
No complaints
The breakfast was excellent, served by wonderful staff. The location is idyllic.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. Stay was just what we were looking for. Loved the French windows in our room which opened out onto the garden & river. Plenty of seating there too.
Great hotel. The team were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.Lovely inside and outside spaces to chill out. Close to the river.Excellent 3-course breakfast and the chef’s afternoon treat of vanilla choux buns were exceptional and something to look forward to especially after a long g walk. Located in a small village about 35min walk into Bakewell and close to the Monsal Trail, which I would also recommend.
The old style high cistern toilet was a bit noisy when it flushed but wasn’t a big issue.
The staff were very welcoming. The food was delicious.
Although the room was lovely and clean, it was quite small.
