Amazing spot with so much history! The young woman who runs the place greeted us with a sparkling smile when I said we were there for a room.

Food was a bit costly for what it was.

Nice comfy rooms for us walkers in a good location with everything needed. Good value.

The problem was the sudden and unexpected cranking up of a sound system at about 11.30pm in the pub just beneath one of the rooms (the triple). We didn’t expect staying in a pub to be quiet obviously but loud music *starting* at that time affected the sleep of 3 of our group. It wasn’t ‘average’ pub level sound in their view.

The up hill room. Some seriously good carpentry! Excellently quirky building. Lovely staff, good beer.

A lovely pub with rooms x room was clean spacious and character

Room was really lovely and the staff were all friendly. It was perfect for a 1 night stop off. Paint in the bathroom was a bit cracked and could probably do with some TLC but it didn't affect our stay at all. We were expecting a little bit of noise during the night especially being a Friday night in a pub which there was a little bit but it didn't bother us. The high street was lovely and full of shops and places to eat. We would stay here again. :)

Fab welcoming staff, love the cozy pub feel, great selection of drinks

Bedroom felt a little grubby and dated, curtains don't close properly, bathroom paint peeling off walls. I found my mattress quite lumpy stairs are very steep getting up to the bedrooms, which my mum did find difficult, so if you have mobility issues, then defo wouldn't suggest.

Central location and a bit quirky. Lots of sockets in the room.

Wasn’t sure were to leave the key on checkout - very minor issue.

This was a gem. A very old building with interesting features. * The room- Looks into the street. Spacious room. Pretty bed. Pretty fireplace feature. Delightfully wonky floors. A lovely staircase to the roll top bath. Large bathroom.* The pub- pleasant staff. Tasty beer. Active fire basket in a pretty fireplace. The pleasant scent of a wood fire.* Parking- on roadside until 8.30am. Paid day parking in centre of road max two hours using parking app.Longer term parking I didn’t look for but apparently is behind Boots/Superdrug.* Shops- lovely set of options. Shops typically opening 9 or 10am, mostly after ten.

Nothing. Really nice. I just needed somewhere to wait out the weather and this was perfect. A little sound transfer from downstairs and street but hey- it’s a tavern in a rather splendid, characterful old building; irrelevant, just an honest remark.

Super room, clean , cosy & spacious

Could have done with an iron, although there was an ironing board

    10RolandasPosted on: 11-26-2024

Good size room with toilet and shower, nice and clean, comfortable bed.

Was a bit noisy, but nothing major, it's above pub after all, so expect to hear some action from downstairs.
