About

Sitting on top of Cromer’s spectacular coastline, The Cliftonville Hotel is a cliff-top hotel overlooking Cromer Beach. With all of its rooms having an unrivaled sea view, whether of the sea front or of the famously beautiful Victorian era Cromer Pier. Opened in 1897, this Edwardian Grade II-listed building has an elegant style and an excellent location. Having recently completed a full refurbishment, we have kept the elegant Edwardian character of the building, from stained glass windows to our original grand staircase. Our newly renovated boutique rooms now offer a modern, comfortable and chic getaway. Our onsite restaurant has a seasonally changing menu, we are very passionate about supplying fresh, locally sourced ingredients to support our local businesses as well as provide our guests with the highest quality produce. We have onsite parking available at the side and back of the building, as well as the roads surrounding the hotel offering free parking. Obviously during the peak seasons, we cannot guarantee parking as it is based on a first come first served basis. The Cliftonville is in a prime location, being just a quarter of a mile from the town center as well as Cromer Pier. With a variety of shops in our lovely town our hotel is in the perfect location. As well as exploring our seaside town, there are many other activities available in nearby towns and villages too such as Sheringham, Holt, Wells-upon-sea and many more! As well as being on the coast we are located just 23 miles from Norwich City center. Norwich is one of Britain’s most beautiful historic cities, with The Lanes, Norwich Market and Chantry place being some of the best places in Britain for shopping.

The location was amazing with fabulous views back to the pier and over the lovely gardens. We were lucky enough to get a parking space in front of the hotel but there was street parking available and a pay and display car park next to the hotel. The original architectural features are stunning and wow you as soon as you enter the hotel. The staff we met were all so friendly and very helpful.the lady that checked us in couldn’t have done more for us.We didn’t eat in the hotel but the menu sounded lovely and good value. We didn’t eat in have a drink in the bar which had a good choice of beers and lagers on tap plus a well stocked back bar.Our room on the 3rd floor was super. We had a huge bay window with views over the sea and a small side window so you could see the pier in all its glory.

Some of the soft furnishings in the lounge area were a very light colour and a bit stained. The water pressure on the 3rd floor was not the best. Filling the bath took patience and the shower didn’t have enough pressure to wash shampoo out of my hair.

The room we were given in the 'turret' had the most incredible seaview and was within walking distance of the pier and the beach. The staff were welcoming and helpful and the atmosphere of the hotel was friendly. I loved the decor and splendid Edwardian staircase - quite cinematic.

Staff not very attentive on service

    Excellent location and views

Room and whole hotel was tired and run down. Scuffs on walls and doors.Bathroom mirrors rusty and bath panel had seen better days. Facilities in the room were very poor no biscuits and poor selection of beverages and no fridge which for the price point was very surprising.Staff were very unprofessional and seemed more interested in discussing what they did the night before rather serving at breakfast.Breakfast was average and very small.

    8PeterPosted on: 2-16-2026

the decor was exceptional, room (a deluxe twin) spacious and comfortable, very good sea views, good breakfast. An expansive menu was available all through the day.

the noise from the couple in the room above between 1.00am and 4.00am, which included linking to one of our devices with Bluetooth to play what appeared to be Bangra music in our room at 2.30am.

    8NevillePosted on: 2-15-2026

    Lovely features, friendly staff.

Was cold in the room when we arrived, dining room was cold in the evening. The breakfast was poor for the price.

Perfect location, friendly staff, very comfortable rooms/beds & it was really quiet, couldn’t hear any outside noise at all.Lovely homemade flapjack in the room was a lovely touch.

There was nothing we didn’t like.

Great location / bracing swim in the sea

room a bit small for a comfy double & facing sea view would have been nice

    9PaulPosted on: 1-30-2026

This is a well run cosy hotel. It was very quiet, it was in January. The building inside has some nice original features. The bed and linen were very comfy. The Wifi also works really well. Some nice private public places to sit with coffee, with views to sea.

The building, the cocktails, the staff are all justly renowned.

    Nothing!

    9AnyaPosted on: 1-24-2026

Really is the perfect location. Comfy room. Just lovely.

My partner went to the car to get our things to return and find out he’d been locked out the building. Luckily I could come down and unbolt the door that had been locked from the inside. If I hadn’t had been still inside, we both would’ve been locked out. The key wouldn’t turn the lock as the door was bolted.

Comfortable, relaxing, friendly staff and great location.

    10MelissaPosted on: 1-19-2026

The location is amazing and the car park is right next door! The staff was amazing from my first to my last interaction with Reception, to the dinner and breakfast staff, all were friendly, helpful, interesting, and hoping to help this be a fantastic stay. They certainly succeeded. We had just a small bite for dinner, which was good. Breakfast was unusually delicious. I didn't think about AC being uncommon in England, so I was a little worried when I got to my room, but there was a fan in the closet that did a great job and kept the room cool enough for me to sleep well. I definately hope to return.

    friendly & accommodating

not a moan but room for improvement - we ordered two drinks to our table x they were carried with one hand to the table not on a tray. We ordered macaroni cheese & fries x no garnish no grated cheese on top of macaroni cheese very beige. Like I said not a moan just felt certain members of staff although very friendly & helpful are maybe a little to comfortable therefore not being consistent.
