Location, range & quality of food & drink. Check in and out was easy and helpful. Room was clean and as described.

Mixed standards from staff, some were excellent and very helpful whilst others were actually unhelpful. The bathroom was missing some basic items such as toilet roll!

The staff were amazing! There was one girl who welcomed us and was also there at breakfast who made us feel welcome and very well taken care of. She was friendly and bubbly. The rooms were beautiful and clean. Breakfast was amazing!

The location was in the center of town which meant that we woke up at some point during the night because of a partying crowd.

Location excellent, a few minutes from the water, ferries, restaurants, shops.The room was spacious and charming. It included a very comfortable sofa. The Garden Room has its own entrance. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. This was a full English breakfast, bacon, sausage, fried tomato, egg, mushroom, toast, jam and to perfection, generous in size. Staff are amazing, welcoming and eager to ensure that their guests are a priority. Ally very helpful, always a big smile.

Only negative maybe for some, not for me, and I am a light sleeper, could be that the music from the pub although muffled seemed to extend till 11 pm perhaps a tad later. This would not prevent my staying there on another occasion, and I hope to do so.

The breakfast was delicious. We also ate there in the evenings and found the food to be really lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful

We had an absolutely excellent stay at The Fortescue Inn! From start to finish, everything was spot on. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of Salcombe, making it the perfect place to enjoy a drink and wind down after a day exploring. It’s very much a lively pub, which they make very clear from the beginning, so naturally there’s some noise — but that’s exactly what you’d expect from the most popular spot in town!Also I keep reading here complaints about the breakfast no included, for us it was included full english or whatever you like from the menu. The breakfast was also delicious. The staff were truly amazing — so friendly, helpful, and always making sure we had everything we needed. The amenities were great, and the atmosphere was unbeatable. Whether you’re looking for a place to stay or just a classic Salcombe pub experience to end your night, this is definitely the spot. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

Price might be high but it is expected from the area.

The room was right above a rowdy bar with the speakers booming into the bedroom. I went down at mid-night in my pyjamas to plead for some respite

Over priced no breakfast included where it was a couple of years ago we had to pay pay for parking daily this was also previously free with the high cost to stay @ the Fortseque shorly these additional cost could have been included.

The location is great

Banging noises down stairs most of the night. Doors opening & shutting constantly.Finally got to sleep to be woken up with drilling noise right outside our room with scaffolding being erected. Radio on full blast & workmen banging around.When we came to leave our room we couldn’t even get out due to the scaffolding that had been erected over the doorway. the workmen had to remove various equipment for us to leave!!We realise we visited out of season and work has to be done, but we were not told this. Guests should be informed prior to arrival & the price should reflect should we go ahead. when we raised this point at checking out they gave us a blank expression and no explanation or apology

Lovely traditional inn with a really comfortable room and a beautiful copper bath! Our second visit here!

Nothing to not like at all!

Location

The vibration of the walls when the music was playing until 12pm at night. Expected some noise but no sleep and wall floor and bed vibration was rediculous

The staff was extremely friendly and professional. The bed was super comfortable and well equipped, great choice of pillows!

The heating wasn’t working properly so it got a bit chilly. The towel had a smell like food, so that wasn’t pleasant. For the price I think they should include breakfast

Excellent location in the middle of Salcombe. Extremely friendly and helpful staff made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was superb. Thanks to everyone.

Good location

I was called two weeks before to say there were new owners & they would no longer honour the breakfast that we had booked for 4 people for two days but they would t reduce the cost which was disappointing as it didn’t give us long enough to rebook else where. Wouldn’t really sell this as a family stay. Very noisy.

The location is good.Can’t say anything good about it.

The place wasn’t clean.Our room wasn’t serviced .The breakfasts were awful.We were there for three nights and ate out two mornings.It was overpriced.We complained and received an £80.00refund that’s how bad it was.

We had a relaxing 1 night stay at the Fortescue Inn. Despite being a popular pub, we slept peacefully throughout the night. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was delicious with generous portions. Our room was clean. Great location near the waterfront.

The wifi was a bit weak in our room but manageable.

It is noisy at night but don’t be put off, it soon goes quiet for sleep and they provide earplugs.

Location was excellent. Room was clean and well presented. Have us info before we arrived about possible noise from the pub.
