Pros +
- Beautifully decorated room, the hotel had a lovely welcoming feel. Lovely location and easy to access New Forest.
- The staff were friendly and attentive Cooked Breakfast was excellent, continental they could do with a little more variety Facilities were good value for money( like the pool)
- The facade of the property was very attractive. The inside was also well presented and the staff very welcoming and informative. The drive up to the property is a little off putting due to the amount of resurfacing works needed.
Cons -
- Shower didn’t work properly, worst shower I’ve ever had in a hotel, also bright light coming in the window all night from external lights (room on the front of the hotel) - a shame because the room was really rather lovely otherwise. Swimming pool in need of an update.
- The shower didn’t work and made a very loud noise when it did eventually come on. Water didn’t become very hot at all and the actual structure frame was unsafe as close to being completely broken away from the wall.
- Our sleep was disrupted with doors slamming. The food was very poor and the staff weren’t very helpful if you could find anyone. And the hotel and the road going to it were in bad , in need of repair .

The room was clean and comfortable

Loved the location and the rooms Soft furnishings were so nice
We booked it for the pool drive 2 hours to get there , when we went to enter the pool it said it was closed and had been for a couple of days! Receptionists was quite blunt saying it’s closed. We was told to drive to another hotel and there was no showers.
Beautiful building in lovely grounds.
Nothing negative about the property just the lane leading to the building. Difficult to drive along in a low sports car with all the potholes.
We were put in a room above the kitchen where the loud extractor fan was very loud and even vibrated the bunk beds until gone 10 pm at night and then started again at 6am which meant my children could not sleep and then was woken up very early
The room
The hotel outside the room was really nice the staff were extremely polite and helpful the location I mean wow we love new forest i would stay again but not in the same room.
The mattress didn't even fit the four poster frame. The bathroom is in need of desperate repairs cracks in the tiling cracks in the flooring grout sealant is not in good shape black mould on the shower matt and stains on the wall. The bathroom looks like its only had a white wash coat of paint it was patchy you could see the previous colour and it just wasn't what I was expecting for a four poster room. The hairs that we found in the bathroom and on the ceiling wasn't expected either. The bed was so uncomfortable and noisy but not nearly as noisy as walking around the room with the floorboards speaking horrendously. We hardly slept the traffic in the car park was quite busy. The room really really let down the stay everything else was brilliant I would definitely stay again in a different room and the staff on that morning did offer me and my partner a complementary stay at another hotel or a 50% refund so again cannot fault the staff or the rest of the hotel
We loved our room, pillows were dreamy and the views were beautiful. Staff were all very friendly. Continental breakfast was delicious. The hotel itself is really beautiful to walk around as well.
The pool was very run down, however aware from reviews it’s being redone. Would’ve been nice to know that the breakfast included was only continental as this was not stated on Booking.com however the continental breakfast was delicious.
Lovely room and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and spacious. Great location, a few minutes drive from the town. Beautiful hotel and gardens. This was our 2nd stay here and we will definitely be returning!
Great location, good size room.Dog friendly.
Could do with a facelift in areas.Reception staff not very friendly or welcoming.
That it was cheap in price for the night, everything was clean and staff were really helpful and friendly. We got upgraded on arrival and really enjoyed our stay
Breakfast is £20 when really it should be included in the stay. It doesn't really include alot. Could include extras like pancakes or crumpets and the fried breakfast. It's very little variety for the price.
The Lodge and its grounds are set well off from the main road, so it’s a very peaceful location yet only ten minutes drive from Lyndhurst. Lots of country house character makes it feel very grand, and the open fire in the reception was very welcoming on a cold day.
For us, there was nothing to complain about.
Breakfast was good, freshly cooked
No food provision outside of breakfast and restaurant from 5:30 to 20:15. I was late to the restaurant on the only evening I wanted dinner, arrived just after 20:15 and was told that the kitchen was closed and i couldn't get any food which resulted in me having order food via Uber Food. There was no flexibility or offer to cook anything at all. There was a wedding in the hotel that took over all of the bar and seating areas...as a guest I wanted to sit in the bar I couldn't without feeling like I'd imposed on a wedding. This wasn't pointed out or advised when i checked in or at any other time. This was the same day as I tried to use the restaurant and was told it was closed, having provisioned a wedding i would have expected some offer to make something, even a sandwich or salad etc but juts told sorry were closed.
Lovely stay at the hotel for new year's eve.Staff where very happy smiley and welcoming.Dinner was great and very good value for money.Bed was comfy and rooms spacious and clean.
Building and countryside
Service, food hit and miss.Building required more tlc, delightful feel but overpriced as lacked finesse. Could not cater for guests and wedding at same time.
Ambience of the bar and lounge area. Staff are excellent....friendly and approachable. A big effort all round with the Xmas decorations and lights.
Having stayed before would have preferred a ground floor room
The pool decor needs a spruce up but pool itself very nuce
Paintwork and roof tiles need renovating
Location nice. Room decor tasteful.
Pool not open when we arrived. Drinks were expensive at the bar. Staff on reception smelt of smoke. Manager berated staff in front of guests. Breakfast was not worth paying extra for. Room was too hot despite turning all radiators off and opening windows.
Seamless check-in for our party and a warm welcome.A thoughtful welcome pack was waiting in our room for our dog which was very much appreciated! All our rooms were of an excellent size with good facilities. The lovely swimming pool was an added bonus.
