    Pros +

    • very friendly and homely
    • Breakfast - excellent- hot and cold choices- very nicely cooked and presented.
    • Friendly and very helpful reception staff, the room was fantastic, even quiet music playing when we arrived in the room, the food was the best we have had on this trip and our servers really took care of us. The bar had a great vibe. Lots of shops in the area.

    Cons -

    • lucky it was not busy as our room would have been noisy
    • Moving luggage- though staff were very helpful.Parking available on a first come basis
    • We visited on the hottest day of the year and stayed in a room in the old part of the hotel on a high floor. This room naturally due its age and location has no Air Con, the room was boiling, a token fan was resident in the room but I could have blown harder. We asked for an additional fan from the duty person only to be told “it’s one fan per room “! When I pay £££ I expect if I ask for an additional fan I should get one, they cost around £30 so go and buy some more ! . The duty staff the following day were much more accommodating and moved us to a room with air con, so all was well.

    Location & staff

Rooms are exceptionally hot making it very difficult to sleep, and uncomfortable The fan did not solve the issue

Great location, walk to Lymington Quay and town center. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and bed, along with the bedding was nice and comfortable. We ate dinner in the dining room one evening and our meals were superb. Everything was wonderful; it was all updated since the last time we stayed here and we will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is lovely, the decor throughout is beautiful and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We were upgraded to a terrace room which was very nice and opened out into the garden which is very pleasant to sit out and have a drink in. The location is great, right on the high street.

Everything was wonderful and the staff nd little touches were exceptional - real milk delivered to your room every morning was so nice.

I had a room on the high street side at the weekend and it was noisy through the night (above the hotel bar and backing onto a relatively busy high street where at 2am on Sunday morning it sounded like some people were having a car drag race). But it wouldn’t stop me from coming back again, but I would just ask for/ book a room on the other side of the property where my friend was staying and didn’t hear a thing.

Nice and well looked after building with an atmosphere. Very polite and nice staff.Breakfast is 10/10 - were initially planning on skipping it; but after trying first morning got addicted.

Great location. Not sure about the daily milk delivery to the room. Really polite, friendly and efficient staff.

The staff were all very friendly, professional, and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant and everything was great. The bed and comforter and pillows are super comfortable and it was the best night's sleep we got in over a week. The shower was great, the toiletries and towels were great. It was all wonderful. The location is convenient for walking to the Quay, shops, restaurants, etc. We drove to the Isle of Wight Ferry parking lot to take the ferry over for the day which was easy and convenient. We had stayed here before and will come back again.

I decided to pay more than usual for an overnight stay at Stanwell House as a treat for my wife. It was well worth it-the excellent friendly staff, the free room upgrade the breakfast the High Street location and the beautifully refurbished hotel all top notch

    10EstherPosted on: 4-4-2025

Location was fabulous. Beautiful property, comfy beds and great food. Excellent staff… We were upgraded too, what a treat!

Nothing, a larger parking space would be ideal, but a main car park alongside did the trick..

    9YvonnePosted on: 3-23-2025

Lovely hotel extremely well located, friendly staff and the breakfast and the room was beautiful.

The staff in the bar seemed a little overwhelmed, however we were still able to enjoy a couple of lovely cocktails before dinner.

    10EllenPosted on: 3-17-2025

Breakfast is served in the orangery which looks out over the garden. The food choice is wide and caters for all tastes and requirements. This visit I had the full English which was lovely

Nothing I don’t like about our visit just wish it was more often and longer

    10JackPosted on: 2-17-2025

Furnishings were lovely and staff really friendly

Didn’t bring toothpaste with us and there was none in the room

Location is fabulous Thé Hôtel Rooms were clean/comfortable beds

Christmas lunch was awful! Starter: Beetroot Risotto (tasteless) We ate some bread rolls instead.Mains:- Reheated Roast Potatoes -Turkey Roll (not from à bird)- Greasy Yorkshire puddingAll we ate from the mains was the Brussels SproutsThé Christmas pudding was fine. There were issues with breakfast thé following morning. The waiters indicated that there were problems in the kitchen.Hence we left and headed to the Haven for our breakfast.
