Cold swimming pool spoilt my spa experience. This was one of the main reasons for choosing you.
Excellent location, lovely reception
The architecture of the guest rooms area had a slightly residential feel to it.
All amazing service and lovely staff, great breakfast perfect ?
Room was a little too warm
Pool good but didn't expect to have to pay £39 each to use the hydrotherapy area, thought it was inclusive.
Could have been clear one needed to book well in advance to eat in the restaurants. They were fully booked so had to eat out all three nights we stayed.
The facilities
The room and the fact the internet and phone in the room didn't work.
Bed was uncomfortable and pillows were awful. Get feather pillows. Instant coffee for a £200 a night room is poor. One of the seats on the balcony is tucked so far into the corner that there is no leg room. Clear the cobwebs away from the balcony before someone checks in. Bath is dated, with black limescale under the taps. Robes are stained brown, especially around the neck area. Staff are miserable and un-smiling. Everyone says ‘Madam’ but it feels strained/false. 2 staff at reception watched me struggle on the stairs with my bag and didn’t offer to help. As a solo female traveller who became very unwell during my stay, I expected some level of care. I had to ask for some food to take away as I’d missed breakfast (after being so sick all night) and the receptionist made it look like an almighty effort to go get me a couple of tiny pastries. She watched me deliriously try to pay with my room card, then drive home without suggesting I take a moment or offering me some water. Uncaring, unthoughtful and cold.
Fantastic location. Friendly staff. Superb breakfast. Slightly wearing furniture in room.
Spa was great. Staff also good.
The bedrooms were very dated and basic. In keeping with a travel lodge. Real shame. Breakfast was good but had to pay extra for cooked options.
Some parts are beautiful as part of historic building.
Room was basic for the rate paid. Coffee and tea were low quality. Television didn’t work. Told reception who simply said sorry - rather than being interested in fixing.
The staff were amazing - thanks to all of them. The location was fantastic. The Zen Garden restaurant was brilliant, food and staff excellent and breakfast was also perfect. The senspa was fun, although not really luxurious.
The room was spacious and clean but old fashioned - the bed was really hard and I slept badly. The Alphasphere experience was pointless, I didn’t get anything from it.
Lovely hotel, well located for exploring New Forest. Good spa facilities and treatments and option to book a swimming lane. Three restaurants to chose from. Room was spacious and comfortable. Continental breakfast included with large choice, a la carte and cooked breakfast abailable at reasonable premium.
We had to pay extra to use the hydropool section of the Spa which was very busy. It would be good if hotel guests could have more time to access this at quieter times of the day at no additional cost or an upgrade one off cost for the diration of stay rather than £39 per 2 hour slot.
Clean tidy and well staffed
Limited car parking if arriving during the day
Great location and getting to use the spa facilities was great!
Got lost finding my car but was a minor
Nice facilities really cosy
Extra charges for spa use when checking out, also no restaurant availability for hotel guests
Staff were lovely and really accommodating for us for dinner as I have a dairy allergy. Zen Thai Restaurant was really yummy and staff were very polite. Location is lovely and the building is gorgeous. Receptionist at the spa was really sweet and checked I was okay with products for my treatments. Bed was really comfy and room was big. A nice night away and much needed but my honest opinion is the property needs some TLC and guests should be allowed to wear clothes down to the spa!
Room wasn't clean. Carpet and chairs were dirty, cutlery also dirty. Bathroom needed repainting and there was mould on the sealants around the bath, I appreciate an old building but a 4.5 star hotel needs to pay attention to detail, the TV was so wonky on the wall which was funny at the time but also not acceptable quality. The hotel and spa were so warm it wasn't as relaxing as it could have been and the massage chairs were uncomfortable to lay face down on. Spa was okay for the package deal for 2 but overpriced and seemed confusing layout wise, lots of corridors and stairs. Walking around half naked when you arent allowed to change in the spa if you are a guest? Finally, if breakfast is included in the room price, you should not charge guests extra for wanting something hot. As someone with a dairy allergy my options for continental was bread, cereal or some old fruit that looked like it'd been out for some time. We did however really enjoy the hot breakfast and it wasn't too expensive as an extra, but it shouldn't be an extra at all.
Fabulous location in middle of New Forest. Clean in all the important places and very nice staff
A little tired, furnishings could do with a refresh. Some of the ‘extras’ seemed overpriced.
Excellent pool and lovely bar lounge.
Room replenishment not 100%. Only one cup replaced. Continental breakfast a little dull and again replenishment not 100%.
Great big room, lovely spa facilities, good choice of continental breakfast
