Pros +
- The range of options at breakfast is exceptional and all such are well presented with individual preferences catered for. One minor consideration would be for a cheaper option for a small scale breakfast - £15 seems a lot for a bowl of cereal and piece of toast.
- The hotel was lovely, it was set in beautiful grounds, the food in the restaurant was great and reasonably priced, the staff were really helpful and friendly, my room was comfortable with all I needed.
- Perfect location for our needs. Super friendly and helpful staff.
Cons -
- The room maybe could have benefited from a few more plug sockets or extension cords, but that's just me being picky.
- The sound prodding is not fantastic and from our room we could hear people above us and everyone passing out in the corridor.
- The food was okay, but the selection was quite limited - they ran out of couple of things when we arrived (7:30pm). In the room, the lights flickered frequently, and the door was difficult to unlock from the inside. However, the staff were lovely and very helpful.

Lovely hotel! The walking trail was right in the garden, with horses roaming freely nearby. The room was clean and spacious, beautifully decorated for Valentine’s Day, and the staff were wonderful.

Rooms were spacious.Beds cosy.Staff helpful and friendly.
The heating had stopped working and no updates were given as to when it would be working again. But there was a portable heater in the cupboard.
Parking facilities reception check in Room comfortable helpful staff Value for money
Kettle not easy to plug in lead doesn't meet plug sockets
Amazing position with great garden, so easy to manage the stay around our dog. Friendly staff and nice restaurant.
We loved the grandeur of the building, the setting and the grounds.
It was freezing! We would come back again but in the summer months!
Welcoming reception and friendly staff. Lovely location and the garden would be lovely to sit out in the Summer. At least at first I felt the room was spacious. Very warm. Nice roomy bathroom internal to the room and for me the shower worked well (not my partner all the time .. it might be a matter of timing). Very easy to walk out from the garden into the heart of the New Forest, which is everywhere gorgeous with Ashurst and Lyndhurst within walking distance. Parking was easy at the front. Wifi fast and reliable. Didn't try the bar or dinner but the breakfast was good for a reasonable additional fee. I would stay again for the price.
Bed was kind of convex and you felt like you could roll off it. Lack of sockets - had to put the phone on the floor and hook the one extension cord on the wall to make it useful. Other side of the bed was a choice of the lamp or your charger. So bring your own extension lead? Very noisy room generally, from bathroom fans to showers to macerators (presumably, or water pumps) to the sound of staff servicing rooms and enjoying their chat. Didn't continue with online check-in because it wanted all sorts of additional information. Post-covid people expect to check in as normal anyway. TV needs to be bigger and better located.
The hotel was comfortable but quite noisy (e.g. creaky floors, noisy doors). The staff were friendly and helpful, and we very much enjoyed staying in the New Forest. The breakfast menu was pretty good, though we stayed with cereal and toast. The hotel was very family friendly and dogs were welcome.
Easy access to New Forest, friendly staff
Twin room beds on the small side
Breakfast fab. Staff fab. Location fab.
Bed not comfortable. Bathroom smelled on arrival.
Welcoming staff and a peaceful setting
Shower pressure
Beautiful location, comfortable room, good breakfast, friendly staff,
Our room got rather cold at times and was noisy late evening (sound of boiler? Shower? )
Clean, good staff, great location, very reasonable
Breakfast could have been better
Bathroom a bit out dated shower needed update needed hand held shower in the shower could hear upstairs walking around
Its location & large family room
Very poor service in cold restaurant which had the side wood strips coming off the table. Would have b a n nice to at least have white table cloths in the evening - the wedding guests had them in their breakfast tables, but us mere guests never saw them.
Breakfast with smoked trout, comfortable room, location next to forest, nice garden, value for money
Floors not clean (on a Sunday, admittedly), heating in my room didn't work one night
Dinner was very good and I had a different selection every evening.
Breakfast wasn't included but was excellent. Freshly cooked full english was very tasty and satisfying.
Very spacious family room which was ideal for us , great to have the option of multiple bedrooms and seating area too. We stayed for purpose of going to peppa pig world and it was super handy for that only a few mins drive away
Not clean enough Beds very soft so not comfortable Main issue was the Bathroom was extremely old and very grotty definitely needs redoing - the shower was horrible to the point we didn’t want to use it
