Pros +
- The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast and dinner were very good and great value. The location of the hotel was perfect, just a short drive to the castle.
- Fabulous place, roaring fires all day, great food and great staff
- Nice building. Free parking. Pub staff were friendly. Easy to find.
Cons -
- The weather was very cold and the hotel was not that warm. The heater in our room did not work too well. A member of staff came to fix it and he pressed every button I did, but it still didn't fix the problem.
- The bed was bad. Worn out and thin mattress. The radiator produced little to no heat in the room. They brought in an electric space heater.
- the hotel is so outdated and the bedroom we were given was so small with poor bed the bathroom was awful and the shower head holder was broken meaning you had to hold whower head whilst washing the tv was minuscule and the decor was so out of fashion it was laughable the whole hotel needs a makeover and the price that is being charged is way more than what its worth

The receiving room just past reception was very classy and classic, also very comfortable.
Can't think of much here, If the stairwell "hikes" (more than one escalation steps per story) were "improved" by reducing, I think that would be an unrealistic one for an older place.
I liked nearly everything. The only thing i didn’t like was walking upstairs with my luggage, but it is an old building so can’t expect elevators. Beds were comfy and we appreciated the historic aspect of it. There are not enough outlets, so maybe they could do something about that. We, however, four of us, were very happy overall.

The location was convenient for the Highland Games at the Castle
The TV didn't work and we had no internet reception in our room. The clerk at reception was extremely unhelpful. And in two days, neither of these problems were fixed. Nor were we offered anything in return for this inconvenience.
Perfect location for visiting Blair castle. Breakfast was outstanding in the great hall.
The only thing negative I have to say is the the bed wasn't the best. Especially after traveling all day from the u s to scotland.
It’s a comfy, good valued and stylish hotel (for those who likes retro aesthetics). Staff were friendly , breakfast was nice, pub was brilliant. Dog-friendly
Lovely helpful staff and the location was great. The food was tasty at breakfast and the Bothy was homely.
It’s a bit run down and the furniture in the room reminds you of an elderly great aunts home - it would benefit from some modernising. The bar closed quite early so we tried to watch tv but it only worked on one channel. One night was ok but a bit too costly for longer
The staff were very helpful, and the accommodation was clean.
The shower was over a bath which I could not use due to disability
Fantastic food especially at breakfast. Nice location and very quiet.
One female member of staff working in the bar area was downright rude to us and other patrons who weren’t ordering food. She needs to work on her customer care!!!!!!
Lovely old building, great location, staff great, food good, excellent value.
Room very small, tv signal poor. Could be beautiful but in need of refurbishment. Fabulous breakfast and excellent staff
The room was spacious and clean. The bed was massive and the cover wasn’t too heavy. The en suite could have been bigger but was clean.
We travelled with my daughter and son in law and their small dog. We were somewhat taken aback when we were told that this dog-friendly hotel didn’t allow dogs in the dining room at breakfast time. We were advised that we could put the dog in the car, hitch wasn’t an option for us. Breakfast was healthy. We would have preferred tasty.
Location. Staff were very pleasant.
Very thin Walls meant continual noise from the room next door. Very slow service in the bar for food. They did apologise explaining there was only 1 chef but the waiting staff were not very attentive. Given the menu for dessert but no-one bothered to come back and take my order.
Nothing but praise for this traditional hotel. From walking through the door we were enchanted! A welcoming lounge with open fire and cosy atmosphere. Excellent parking outside the hotel. Our room was clean and well stocked. We had a great value for money in the pub style eatery had were not hurried. Lots of local gin and whiskies to try. We will definitely stay here again.
Nice big comfortable double bed, as requested. Two armchairs in the bedroom . Welcoming log fires. Beautiful dining room with a log fire for very good breakfast. Staff very attentive .
Excellent location right by the station and a lovely old building. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Staff were 5 star and could not do enough. Hotel is traditionally 'highland' and quite atmospheric. Food good, bar very good. Rooms are fine and clean. Great venue and definitely value for money. The impact of the wonderful staff attitude is a lasting memory and a place we'd go back to.
