About
In a beautiful, tranquil location in picturesque Drumnadrochit, beside one of the most famous and romantic stretches of water in the world, this traditional Scottish hotel dates back to around 1740. Set in acres of woodland, the Loch Ness Lodge Hotel is 14 miles from Inverness. With walks and cycle trails to nearby Urquhart Castle, the hotel makes a great base from which to explore the Highlands. The hotel is within the grounds of the Nessieland Castle Monster Center, with facilities including a cinema, exhibition, coffee shop, loch cruises and a children’s activity center. This original Highland lodge is now a privately owned 3-star hotel offering rooms rich in character and traditional charm. Each room with attached bathroom has a telephone, TV and tea/coffee-making facilities. With log fires, the Pibroch Bar and hotel restaurant offer traditional cuisine.

Great location. Close to small town with restaurants. Hotel has as a bar/restaurant, but was closed the night we were there. Breakfast was a basic Scottish breakfast. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Room was nice (superior room) but could use a new mattress. No elevator.
This hotel has a history that is evident in the facilities. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable. We had a very good breakfast!
Ample parking, centrally located and right next to shops and restaurants. I also love some of the old era decor, especially when you enter reception and the dinning are. Staff were helpful and pleasant and I enjoyed the breakfast. I also loved how comfy the bed was too, didn’t want to get up in the mornings because of how comfy it was! Room is small but it was cosy and there is also plenty of storage too. The place is more of a hostel than a hotel and I also enjoyed how your free to come and go as you please despite the time
The room was cold so had to keep the electric radiator on most of the time, otherwise it quickly goes cold again. Lack of sockets to charge phone or use kettle wasn’t great either. Also didn’t like the tinted mirrors as it was difficult to apply make up with. The hot tap is actually the cold tap and vice versa. Also, when using the hot tap it will suddenly burst a blast of super hot water at you when washing your hands! Also after reading some reviews I never tried the shower and also especially with how the hot tap was too.
Breakfast was lovely, although reduced in offering.
The room horrendous. The ceiling looked like it had black mould (but we think it was just a really bad attempt to cover something bas paint job) there was a step (about an inch in height) into bathroom which i went flying on and broke a toe (no warning to highlight step) bathroom was unclean and outdated with mix match colours. White toilet seat on awful beige suite dark green wall Ripped carpet, broken (and sharp) vent heater in window sill. Easily have cut someone. Just all in all for price paid it was bot worth it. It wasn’t as expected a Scottish lodge more of an outdated 1960s set. Very disappointed.
The hotel was in a good position
It was a little rundown. We had a problem with the bathroom door handle
Nothing!
Old, uncomfortable mattress. Damp smelling throughout. Our whole experience was awful. The old gentleman in the bar just pointed us to the menus with a "sit where you want" only bottled beer available at £13 for 2 and cash only! We didn't eat there. Breakfast was terrible, cold dried up and the only tasty part was the beans! I definitely would not recommend staying here. I have stayed in better bunk houses that didn't cost £130.
The breakfast was good
Restaurant and bar was closed, The room was freezing cold. I went down and asked for a heater for the room. They gave me a heater but were extremely rude about it. We slept fully clothed with a hot water bottle in the bed and was still freezing. We left after 1 night and cut our trip short
The Loch Ness Lodge Hotel had a charming feel to it. It had an interesting history, the rooms were quaint and comfortable.
The staff, while very efficient, did not smile or engage with us.
Friendly staff and great Scottish breakfast, Blackpool pudding was cooked to perfection
Little outdated
The exterier
It was dirty, smelt awful throughout the full hotel. Hardly seen any staff, when we did they were not very welcoming. The bar and restaurant were never open.
The room we had was massive and bathroom bed was really comfy loved the tartan flooring every where staff really nice good option for breakfast
We couldnt stay longer
The library was beautiful. On a cold evening, sitting by the fire, in a leather armchair, with a glass of whisky from the bar.
The staff seemed reserved rather than friendly.
Quirky hotel, comfortable and ideal location, breakfast was super yummy x
Toilet flusher was super noisy but not a major problem x
Good location. Nice breakfast
Rooms and interior decoration very tired. Restaurant very expensive.
We were booked in for 3 nights with breakfast but only stayed one night due to storm Amy we had no power light or heat and had to leave after the first night as I had an 11 yr old boy with me and it was too cold and dark
When we asked the manager when the power would be on again she said 3-4 days so there was no point in staying any longer but they never offered me any compensation. Even if they had said come back next year for a couple of days The hotel will receive compensation from the electricity company
It has lots of character and is a historic building close to the village. I was going to give it a 3 overall but the breakfast was excellent - it was the best thing about it - so that pushed it up by one.
It was like stepping back in time and not in a good way. The central heating couldn’t be controlled in the room and it was far too hot. We slept with the window open and even then it was sweltering. The beds were small and uncomfortable. We had a huge pillar in the middle of the room holding the ceiling up that you had to walk around that was a risk at night in the dark. The gutters were blocked so when it rained they overflowed and it was like Chinese water torture.
Room was clean and warm when we booked in.
We were told to order dinner in the bar but no one ever showed up to take our order. We left and ate at other local bar
