Pros +
- Nice and simplistic. Didn't get the chance to use the kitchen or social areas but we peaked in and they looked spacious and had lots of accessories!
- Good location. Affordable.
- Really friendly staff and probably the best value in Portree. It was fun to meet people here and a great hub for adventures on Skye.
Cons -
- Room to small/stuffy. Really bad directions. Went next door and got absolutely clear and simple directions. Also asked about their rooms and they put me in a wonderfully large dorm that had great airflow, coffee available and really helpful staff.
- The bathroom could use a little renovation to be a little more modern and better quality appliances.
- Hot. Smelly. Uncomfortable bed. No outlet near bed. Couldn’t sleep at all due to noises.

The location couldn't be bettter, and the room is really okay for a hostel. The bathrooms were clean enough.
The price is literally insane for a hostel. I understand you pay for the location, not for the room itself. But it is still way way too pricey, still the cheapest place on Isle of Skye.
We didn’t use the kitchen but it looked big and airy with high ceilings and a nice view of the water.
The bathroom was really dirty, particularly old grime along the bottoms and corners of the floors. The bedroom floor was also dirty and I found myself worried about putting my bag on the floor but there was only a chair and a bunk bed in the room so there was no other place to put a suitcase.
location, kitchen facility.
bathroom shared by too many rooms/users.
Location, the private room was comfortable
The cost
A nice and cheap place to stay for a night. Kitchen and eating place are fine. Bakery near by. Coop around the corner.
12 people in a dormitory. To much. Only one window, terrible air. Not realy peaceful after 10pm. Beds are terrible.
The kitchen was well equipped and large, the toilets and shower rooms were reasonably clean, especially with the great number of guests using them. The staff were dedicated to ensure cleanliness and order.
Our room was big, with more than 14 beds, so you have to manage the expectations in regards to privacy and comfort. The air purifier was a little too loud, it's difficult to aerate the room with so many people having different ideas about cold, warm, fresh air etc. So just manage your expectations and be patient, it is what it is - a hostel.
Great location. Excellent large kitchen and dining area and another bonus lobby area. Nice staff, very clean
Room was awful, way too crowded were 12-15 or more people, with beds very close to one another. Seemed like it could be a fire code violation. Staff allowed a couple to be in one of the beds together in this very crowded room, which was highly inappropriate
Comfortable beds. Kitchen ok, well-stocked and practical.
Rooms too crowded, too noisy, only one working window, too few bathrooms and no hair dryer.
Location
Little bit noisy being under the kitchen area. Mattresses are plastic coated which made for a very hot night.
Love the location, very close to everything that you might need at Portree. Also the checking was pretty simple and you only need to remember a code. No problem about forgetting the keys! The kitchen was fully equipped and had a lot of space
Beds were fine but maybe I would have appreciated some lockers for valuable stuff. Pretty safe do
Colourful, clean, well taken care of.
All good.
The location is excellent. The staff was friendly and they have laundry facilities.
The pillows and bedding were poor. Cooking in the kitchen ends at 6pm which is inconvenient for a dinner meal after a long day on Skye. They hold your bags but they are in a common entrance with no surveillance at times.
Availability & location
Minimalist, didn’t exceed any expectations. Two night minimum was unfair considering there are very few places to stay on Skye, so I’m sure they’d have no issue keeping the place fully booked.
Toilet and bathroom were good enough.
Lack of privacy and no sockets to charge phone through the night.
Location,friendly staff!
Beds not super comfortable
Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious kitchen with good cleanness. Great value for money. Easy access. Great location with plenty of parking spaces nearby.
Mould in the bathroom is a bit concerning. Visible dust at the ladder. But no complaints because overall it’s still quite clean and a good place for the price.
