Fabulous location, wonderfully comfortable room, great food - we ate dinner and breakfast there, and lovely atmosphere. The view from the balcony was absolutely georgeous - I cannot recommend the Red Lion enough.

Friendly staff, cleanliness of pub and room,

Breakfast was good although as the plant eater; I think I was only offered the yogurt but it was enjoyable. Some toast might have been good.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Dog friendly. Great food in the evening. Breakfast amazing

    No proper shower over bath

    7SaoirsePosted on: 1-1-2025

Good access to the garden area for the dog. Spacious room. Shower and bath available. Friendly staff.

Room was very hot and unable to turn it down to make it cooler. The blinds didn’t block out all the light. Would of loved a coffee machine in the room

    9MervynPosted on: 12-24-2024

Conveniently located for the coast with numerous places to visit and good walks. Friendly and helpful staff, a smoked salmon and scrambled egg breakfast to die for.

    Nothing I did not like

We were in the area purely to see the Thursford Christmas show- so the location was picked as it was only a 15 minute drive from Thursford. There were cheaper Hotels in the area which were not attached to a pub- but we paid the extra so that we could have a late drink after the show. We also chose the venue as it had parking. It was quite a cold night and the room was warm enough.

Its in a very quiet village- so there were no other patrons in the Pub. When we returned after the Thursford Show hoping to have a late drink- the pub was all locked up in darkness.I cant blame them for that- its not worth keeping a place open for 2 customers- but maybe the Pub opening times could be added to the Booking.com info page.Would have booked somewhere cheaper without an attached pub if had known.Also- for anyone else visiting Thursford- the show finishes at 10pm but it took a full 30 mins to exit the Car Park ( chaotic)- so that needs to be factored into estimating when you may be back at your accomodation. ( I didnt take this into account)- and of couse not the Hotels fault.

    8AnthonyPosted on: 12-20-2024

We felt it looked a little tired, but the nearness to Thursford, and the breakfast overrode that.

    Pub menu choice limited

Friendly staff, good food, comfortable accommodation. Congenial atmosphere in bar and cosy

    Room was too hot

    6RobertPosted on: 12-13-2024

Breakfast was very tasty; good quality produce, well cooked. Great ale available from the bar.

Our room was full of dog hair: bed, floors, furnishings. I believe dog owners are charged extra for having their dogs in the room; I assume for the extra cleaning that is required but was not done.
