Pros +
- Very pleasant
- The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was nicely decorated for Christmas. The bed was comfortable giving us a good night’s sleep. We were pleasantly surprised to have a view of the sea in the distance from our room. The breakfast was very good.

Cons -
- Room very small , fine for one but not for two. Had very good room in hotel in Minehead and only £5o so when compared I did not feel that £127 for such a small room( although nicely decorated) was value for money.
- The stairs were a challenge for one of us whose mobility is not great but the hotel gave fair warning of this. It was nice to be given fresh milk for the room but not easy to keep it fresh in the warm room.
- The mattress in room 6 is dire. It needs replacing.

Location as we were visiting family . The breakfast was very good .
Only one thing . Unfortunately the heating in our room was not working and it was very cold, and arriving back late there was no one we could report it too.
Location
Two flights of stairs top room when all the other rooms were empty no other clients staying, we being over 77.
Very attentive staffLovely to have the option to eat there and the menu was brilliant with delicious options . Would recommend booking to eat here too
En suite bathroom a little tired. Probably due an upgrade.
A very warm welcome and a lovely meal in the evening. I was only staying for one night but I would stay again if I am in the area.
What a wonderfully run and managed hotel in Porlock. The dinner in the evening (as well as the breakfast in the morning) was superbly prepared and cooked and the service was exceptional. Their attention to detail in making us feel welcome was most impressive.
The people were incredibly friendly and helpful! They went above and beyond to make us feel at home, helped us find a taxi, and even arranged a place for my husband to work. We truly appreciated their warm hospitality.
Lovely family run small hotel. Fabulous food and restaurant, friendly staff, lovely big room with comfortable bed. Quiet, next door to a pub serving excellent real ale. The hotel itself had bottled beers and a good range of wines. The food was excellent
This is in Porlock not Porlock Weir. Remember that if you are walking. It was a lovely small double room. Re value for money, I wish the price reflected that it was single occupancy. Clean, friendly welcoming staff. A good view. Tasty simple breakfast.
See value for money for single occupancy
The staff were so friendly and helpful the bedroom was clean and comfortable the bed was amazing made us realise we need a new bed as it was so big and comfortable breakfast was amazing
Nothing everything was excellent
Spotlessly clean, really comfy large bed. Tea and coffee and biscuits in the room. Plenty of hot water with good pressure. The dinner and breakfast were both lovely. We received a warm welcome from all staff.
The staff were lovely and my vegetarian English breakfast good, though not exceptional. The location is reasonably good for walking the Coast Path if you are unable to obtain lodging on the coast.
The mattress is the typical saggy English provincial type that absolutely needs upgrading, particularly at this price point. I thought that not being able to enter the hotel before check in (the door was locked) unacceptable. Fortunately, it was not raining, but I chose this lodging specifically because it's called a HOTEL, not a simple B&B. Having access to the lounge area while waiting for the room (only if it is NOT ready early) is expected.
Breakfast was amazing - the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had & partner loved his full English
The property is showing signs or wear upstairs in the bedroom etc, could do with a little investment to make it worthy of the price
Brilliant staff - very welcoming, thoughtful & helpful. Comfortable bed & clean facilities. Nice touches such as fresh cold milk, choccy bars on tea tray, offer of packed lunch for walking trip.
Great breakfast lovely presentation good food really nice young waitress.
How my complaints were handled. They got angry with me and insisted they were right but I took a photo to prove my point. The shower was rusty and the grout and sealant needed a good clean. I found dust and a spider in our mugs. I requested margarine for breakfast they did not comply.
Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely beds (had a great nights sleep - although the 13 mile walk to get there probably helped!).We ate in the hotels restaurant and the food was excellent.
Lovely, quirky hotel with friendly staff and fabulous food.Pretty little courtyard to enjoy pre dinner drinks.Huge, comfortable bed.
The evening meal was fantastic, as was the breakfast. The staff were friendly and professional and the service was very good. The location in the high street of Porlock was perfect, and it was lovely to hear the seagulls flying about outside. It was also great to have a small sitting room in our room as well as the bedroom.
The shower and the ensuite was very small! Otherwise no complaints.
