Pros +
- The lady at the reception was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent, with wide selection. The location is excellent.
- The staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Central location in Lynton, beautiful room, lovely staff, nice pub vibe downstairs
Cons -
- The bathroom was a bit dirty and water pressure was very low that we barely can take shower after a long day hiking.
- The hotel back entrance is down a small lane. The car park is extremely small with 4-5 spaces. Getting in and out is tricky. Be aware that to get to the accommodation on the second floor means negotiating some narrow, very steep sets of stairs. We are elderly and it was quite a challenge, although our bags were carried up and back down for us by the staff. On the positive side, once into our room it was clean and comfortable. The shower is over the bath so climbing in and out could be slippery and slightly hazardous. We had a meal in the hotel restaurant and that was good value. If you are young and fit with a small car then this could be a lovely place to stay. We wouldn't return to this hotel.
- Our room was right above the pub and patio and the noise made it a bit hard to sleep if you like to go to bed early

Breakfast was very good. Location was super but quiet at bed time.nothing
No lift
Lovely room, car park
Hotel has changed a lot since Rachel and Lee have left. The personal friendly touch is really missing. Menu is not as good.
Breakfast and evening meal were excellent.Service was always good, staff were friendly and accommodating.
The car park is small.
Lovely place, delicious breakfast. Would recommend but be aware you are very unlikely to be able to park in hotel car park (v limited) - there is a large pay and display car park very nearby which is free overnight so not a problem but worth knowing
Rooms were comfortable with good extras provided. Staff were very professional and happy to help with any queries. Food, both for breakfast and the previous evening meal was very tasty and good value for money.
Can't think of anything!
We had stayed previously at the crown, hence us rebooking we did have a slight issue with the room we had booked a triple bed but was given a double but the staff were very helpful and we had another bed brought in ? we were disappointed with the breakfast as the last time it was amazing you ordered the night before and it was all set up beautifully fruit, juice, and toast and cooked breakfast of your choice ? seriously didn't need to eat for the rest of the day!but this time it was just a set breakfast which was lovely but smaller, and evening meal was smaller , but higher price but we did have a good time ? will definitely stay in Lynton again but might try a new establishment ?
Beds for both guests were comfortable and the hotel was quiet
There was no proper shower in one of the rooms only a rubber attachment to bath taps that didn’t work kept coming off Had to share shower with my sister in her room The opening into this shower cubicle was not very wide a squeeze to get in without hurting oneself a larger figure would have been unable to use it There was also an electric socket loose and coming away from the wall inside a wardrobe On arrival we were shown to one room I explained we had booked two separate rooms two adults two nights we were given a further room but were told we were lucky they had one left No proper apology from staff when shown the confirmation booking receipt
It was clean and comfortable. Good selection of beverages. Unfortunately the shower did not work
Did not happe
We were sent away on arrival a the property was not available. It was stated that the gas was off and no hot water. We were sent to the blue ball hotel some miles away
Good location in central Lynton with easy access to shops, buses and the Cliff Railway. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Well cooked fried breakfast. Evening meals were good although a limited choice - no steaks! Nice lounge adjacent to dining room, very comfortable. Serving staff excellent!!
As mentioned more food choice. Shower took some time to reach temperature but adequate. Car parking limited due to scaffolding on part of hotel. Not really complaints but observations!Weather was awful but beyond the hotel’s jurisdiction and capabilities!
The location was great as well as the food.
We booked 2 rooms, the double was fab but the twin room was not accessible for people with disabilities. Too many stairs and no lift. Had to transfer to another hotel. Unfortunately we didn't check at time of booking the rooms
Lovely place to stay at the end of Two Moors Way. Easy to find, great breakfast in the morning, and cosy bar area
Decor is a little outdated
The Crown is a lovely property with on site parking which is wonderful. Our room was clean, well presented and very comfortable. The breakfast was one of the very best we enjoyed during our month long journey around the UK. We booked evening dinner and enjoyed it very much. The morning wait staff were a staff highlight….friendly, knowledgeable about the area and so very welcoming.
The dinner server who initially was quite rude to us. We had booked a table, couldn’t find someone to check in with so sat one of two reserved tables. They were quite busy so understandable she was a bit stressed. However, she greeted us quite rudely and it took a bit of time for her to calm down with us a bit. I only mention this because the encounter almost put me off about our choice in lodging which turned out to be one of our very favorite lodgings during this two month UK journey. We always make every attempt to be kind, treat staff well and try not to break the rules!
Breakfast was lovely, they were determined to make sure I didn't need lunch.
The shower, it was only a little dribble. Good and hot, but it took me twenty minutes to wash my hair, and I would have been better under the tap.
good breakfast, spacious room
small car park for a hotel with 18 bedrooms, and several spaces were closed off for scaffolding work on building. We were assured that a space wd be available next morning but none of the parked cars ever seemed to move. However the council car park was only a short walk away, and was free overnight, 6pm till 10am
The hotel is situated very centrally and has parking. The hotel access is not difficult.Rich English breakfast is available. Dinner in the restaurant of the hotel is also available. Our room was big.
Our room was on the 2nd floor and reachable only via narrow and steep stairs. At some places, there is a lack of headroom. It was not a problem for us, but for tall and heavy persons, this may be a challenge.
The Crown is located in Lynton a short walk from bus stops in Lynton and easy to find. Check in was problem free with all required information given and the room was clean and comfortable. Staff in the bar in the evening and at breakfast in the morning were friendly and professional. Breakfasts were very good with a good selection, and evening meals were good too
The only (very slight!) minor quibble was the shower was ran using a mixer tap which I sometimes find it difficult to get to the right temperature
