    Great location

Rooms were very tired and there was a definite lack of heating throughout the building, bedroom was a few degrees under comfortable and there was no heating anywhere else in the building.

Lovely old world style hotel. Our second stay here and had a lovely turret corner room with great views. Good sized room. All the staff ate friendly and welcoming and it is very dog friendly. Great base to explore the area.

lovely jubbly. charming and delightful historic building forted by giant rocks and feral goats and with a view of Lynton's dramatic coast. Hosted by kind and humorous reception staff and porters who are so forthcoming about things to do in the local area during your stay. lovely.

    nothing!

    The history and lovely views

No hot water or heating Antiquated facilities

Staff where wonderful. Very friendly. They have great local knowledge and where a wonderful source of advice. My partner and I where on a early February getaway. Obviously a lot of places are closed this time of year but we where directed to great local places to eat drink and explore. We will definitely go back in summer time. The hotel is well over 200 years and has amazing character.

The weather wasn't great, can't blame the hotel for that.

    We loved the location

It's not the young ladies fault but we stayed for three nights and had no heating for two of them, boiler wasn't working so had no hot water either, would have been nice to have a shower after our hiking all day.Was told to ring manager which was London based and didn't get anywhere with them not even a reduction in the price.

The location and the quirkiness of the hotel

The cold! No hot water or heating! We had to have a plug in useless electric heater!

Very cold room but given a heater which fixed the issue

Great location, easy parking at a small cost. Comfortable beds. Interesting old building. Close to Valley of Rocks walks. Very helpful friendly staff.

The shower water was not hot enough.

The location is perfect. The view from our room was stunning. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

We weren't informed there was no breakfast available until arrival - although they did provide us with alternative venues. The soap and shower dispenser in our room were both empty and there was no hairdryer - one was provided when I went to reception to ask for one. The curtain on the windows were hideous.

    Hotel and staff were lovely

It was cold as January! Extra blanket and heater thoughtfully provided in the room, so nothing to complain about

    9DazPosted on: 1-17-2026

Wonderful location. Reception staff literally couldn’t have been friendlier. If I had taken a name I’d put it down, but she was absolutely wonderful. They couldn’t do enough for us

It’s a shame it didn’t have a bar, but there is so much around in the area it didn’t matter to our stay. But it does help create an atmosphere and buzz in the hotel so that was a shame

    1Lisa-mariePosted on: 1-11-2026

No hot water.. no heating on. Although staff gave us 2 plug in heaters. Big family room.. no heating in bathroom at all. Too cold to shower..and no running hot water.

No running hot water no heating in January
