    Cons -

    • This feels like a business in decline and unfortunately this review is not going to help. It is a vast building which is cold and lacking any atmosphere. It is beige in every respect. Our room was freezing (15 c) and we had to ask reception to bring us a heater. Ran a bath to warm up and the water ran cold before the tub was full. Breakfast was stingy, despite charging £17. I got the feeling they are trying to squeeze every last penny out of its guests while offering as little as possible in return. At £130 for the night, this was not good value for money. I have some sympathy with the owners as it must be very difficult to make this profitable.
    • No heating onLadybird bugs in the room & bedTV didn't work
    • Frosty reception staff. 2 night stay. After first night bed unmade/water and toiletries not replenished. Bin unemptied bathroom. Bath/sink not cleaned thoroughly.

The room was warm and comfortable. The staff very friendly. Had lots of contact before our stay.

Hearing a few doors bang early in the morning

Met with friends for dinner -food and wine were good. We were moved to the bar but then told it was closed. However, when we requested a drink they re-opened the bar for us - excellent service! The room and the bed were very comfortable.

its a minor point but the car park is up a fairly steep slope and a short walk from the hotel and as it was raining in the morning it wasn't the best experience dragging a case up the slope to the car park in the wind and rain.

Hotel was great for one night. Staff were very friendly on check in and check out.Rooms were quite warm. No air conditioning.

Very dated, could do with a refurbishment.

    8StevePosted on: 10-14-2025

Breakfast was good with a wide range of choice and friendly staff

Pleasant staff, perfect location for my purpose. Calm atmosphere. Easy parking.

Shower pressure could have been better. Morning coffee in restaurant disappointed.

    7MiaPosted on: 10-8-2025

Room was clean and freshly decorated. The bed was insanely comfortable - big plus! Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is in a quieter area of the Cotswolds, so it’s very peaceful. The outside of the property is picturesque!

Some areas of the property felt a bit dated decor-wise. The room/area for breakfast felt disproportionate to the amount of guests staying, so the atmosphere was a little flat. There wasn’t any staff present to check us out at the end of our stay.

2nd room offered was great, breakfast was excellent, great selection, service was great too.

Our first room was infested with Ladybirds. We were then given an alternative room.

    8BlandPosted on: 10-1-2025

    The quiet surroundings, breakfast, parking

The rooms are tired, uncomfortable seats, poor TV reception, height of sink in bathroom, and cleaning regime.

    4CathyPosted on: 9-30-2025

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast was good, if a bit pricey. Staff were relaxed about our dog

We were made to pay £100 upfront for any damage the dog might cause. This was not made clear beforehand. We were told it would be returned to us immediately after the room was checked after checkout but it took 3 days even though it was confirmed there was no damage. The communal areas were rather drab, both in terms of decor and atmosphere. With lots of empty armchairs it put me in mind of a nursing home. That said, my 91 year old mother in law felt it was too dull there to have dinner in!

The sraff were very pleasant, the food was lovely too

Condition of the room was'nt great, fair few cobwebs about, the hot tap for the shower fell off nearly hitting my wife on the foot, the bath plug release mechanism was broken(wolud'nt lift plug up and was loose) you could see the damage around the plug where people had used various objects to release it,the bed was'nt very comfortable too,it looked like the whole of the wing where the room was located was tired

The position in the village is good

It all looks very outdated and In need of decoration and refreshing - it just doesn’t look loved or looked after. The pictures make it look fresher than it is

Beautiful grounds and very nicely appointed rooms. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and the it was such a comfortable bed

The only issue was the lack of pressure in the shower

    10TheresaPosted on: 9-15-2025

We liked that although it was off a main road, it was set back enough that you couldn’t hear any traffic. It was peaceful. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom clean.

Breakfast was paid for separately at £15.50 a person. I thought this was very expensive. Especially for someone who would normally have roast or cereal. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work. And the toilet blocked easily. The heating was stuck on high so the room was boiling. Staff sorted that out quickly. Would have like a/c or a fan as the room got quite warm/stuffy. We don’t like sleeping with windows and curtains open (curtains are very thick so you’d have to leave them open if you needed open the windows).
