- Very good
- Relaxed environment, great gym/spa and very good buffet breakfast
- Love the property really feels like we’re being looked after
Cons -
- I paid for a sound proof room and I barely got any sleep was super noisy
- We stayed in room 34 (the attic) the mattress was an awful mattress to the point I didn’t sleep !
- The staff were lovely but there were not enough to cover the amount of people. We had to track them down to get service. It was not their fault but the management must get more.

We stayed in room 34 (the attic) the mattress was an awful mattress to the point I didn’t sleep !
The spa and pool room was relaxing although they could put a sponge cover on top of the sun beds for comfort
The staff were lovely but there were not enough to cover the amount of people. We had to track them down to get service. It was not their fault but the management must get more.
The place is lovely
The chef could not cook a steak , sent it back 3 time .Sat down for food at 7.15 and had my food at 9.30.My partner and I couldn't eat together, and there was plastic in my food .
The staff and facilities were lovely
A little bit outdated, but they are having a refurbishment which is good, also lack of plug sockets
The hotel is in a pretty location
The heating was on full blast in the room and due to broken thermostats on the radiators unable to turn it down. The windows of the room are badly in need of refurbishment.Booked to have a meal in the restaurant, this was just a standard bar meal, nothing special. There was no one serving when we arrived and so had to go and find someone after around q0 minutes of waiting. Service was very slow and no one on hand to check for any issues etc. Very disappointed.
I love staying here. Great facilities, clean and tidy rooms, beautiful location, friendly staff.
Last time I stayed here I stayed in room 4. Decided to have a bath after being in the swimming pool. As the water was running and the bath was getting more full I noticed a discolouration to the water. Once the bath was fully run the water was a browny, grey colour. This was the only problem.
It is a bit old but very comfortable the staff were lovely and friendly. Menu was a 5 out of 10 Usk 3 miles away had gorgeous restaurants
A little tired but very comfortable and clean
The man on reception was an absolute delight. My first room (1)had an open window, which wouldn’t shut . He came and tried, couldn’t shut it, so moved me to room 6. This room was really cold, and the towel rail wouldn’t work. Again, with no fuss or criticism, I was moved to room 3, which did work.
It seems to be in the middle of a time warp, both going backwards and forwards. Some attention to detail could turn it into something really special. For instance, in the dining room, a new design of light has been fitted , but the mark from the old fitting left on the ceiling.Get one of your super young lads on evening dinner duty, to get a ladder, and paint that bit of the ceiling. Both of them were utterly charming, and could be used more positively. The canned music was annoying, as I was the only customer. They said they couldn’t adjust it. Why not?Your vegetable soup was really classy, so congratulations to the lady chef.
The hotel is in the middle of the countryside, in beautiful grounds with very attentive staff. We stayed for my birthday for 2 nights, I didn’t expect the room to be as big as it was, it was huge! We were in the superior suite but I still didn’t expect it to be as big. The best thing was the view outside the window. Waking up looking at the countryside was just magical. They are understaffed but staff they do have are so welcoming and attentive. The food was lovely at breakfast and huge portions in the evening. We don’t have a bad thing to say at all. Thankyou
The staff are amazing, manger is a really nice guy also. Food was nice and the spa facilities also was a highlight of the stay. Would definitely return.
Welcoming and polite staffGood food
No heating in the room - no instructions on how to operate it eitherThe room was very cold
All the staff were amazing and so attentive, evening meal was lovely and cocktails great and great value Spa facilities were amazing and so relaxing
I did book a deluxe double bed but we had to singles pushed together.Hot water ran yellow in the room. And although breakfast was lovely it was a little cold. But we still had a great time
Room was lovely and the staff were great. Pool and steam rooms also spot on and nice and quiet
After booking I tried to book a treatment but even after receiving an email offering a discount was then told there were no bookings available. This was a major reason I booked a spa so it would have been nice to explain no treatments available before the booking. Additionally the restaurant was closed which meant only bar meals were available. The food was lovely and reasonably priced but again not what we were expecting
The grounds are lovely
The building is quite clearly dilapidated now and they are not investing money into fixing the problems that need it. A lot of wood rotting on doors and walls, ceilings torn, damp walls, outdated decor. Breakfast bar was empty by 9am and dining room staff didn’t care, many guests came down after us to be incredibly disappointed. They eventually came out with frozen bread and that’s it. Gutted we spent our wedding night at this hotel, would have had a better experience at a premier inn. Raised a complaint through their complaints process, and they didn’t even reply
Friendly staff, good selection of beers . Nice location.
Bins in our room had not be emptied, Radiator in our room did not work. The decor was very tired. The windows had condensation on the inside. The steam room in the spar was not working. We had to wait over an hour for our meal to come out after ordering. Due to the lateness of our meal, no desert option was offered.
Starters to the food where nice
I’m unsure if you are aware of what happened last night but at 9pm we had no other option than to leave your premises. We spent in total over £300 with yourselves. The food was terrible. Most of it not eating and sent back. To be fair the starters were nice. Asked for a itemised bill which they couldn’t provide which was very suss. The meal came to £111 which we begrudgingly paid. We used the spa facilities which were in short very disappointing. The swimming pool was Baltic. The bottom of the pool had grit and grime in. Steam room wasn’t working. Showers in the changing room were a joke. Now on to our room. We paid for what we thought was a nice room. Very dirty. Dust everywhere and cobwebs on the ceiling. We wanted a night away but was greeted by 2 single beds pushed together. I’m a larger man and when we moved I would fall into the gap. We tried to grin and bear it but led in bed in a dirty room with pathetic pillows in a room we paid nearly £200 for we just couldn’t stay there. We went home and had a shower. Please can you issue us with a full refund for the room. I don’t expect a refund for the food as even though it was terrible, we ate it and you would have paid for the products and have staff to pay.
Every time we’ve stayed it have been excellent, this time you upgraded us and we were very grateful, it was a special stay for us this time, a year after my wife has got through breast cancer, thank you , take care all

Good size rooms, breakfast was good.
Bathroom was very dated, putting the shower on was so noisy although decent once all the shuddering stopped. Room was cold, radiator was not up to the job. There was a huge bed but neither of us got sleep as it was so uncomfortable.
