Cons -
- The restaurant was closed and the bar very crowded and noisy. Our food was very cold and had to be replaced with a nice hot meal. My wife ate hers before my replacement arrived.

Beautiful setting and wonderful restaurant.
It was very hot and the Moat House had no A/C
The staff is friendly and service minded especially at the restaurant. They were so helpful getting us a table when they were quite full
Spacious bedroom, great bathroom, Loved the bar area, good dinner menu, The public areas have a really lovely feel with wooden staircase, hotel public space is well maintained, located near a lake, we did a nice walk along the canal to Georgie's narrow boats.
I thought the bedroom was alright but lacked the standard expected in such a lovely building, we found duvet too thin /no spare blankets/ had to chase for hairdryer, tea/coffee missing, could do with better sound proof windows, meant we could hear the M6 traffic noise all night, was tired and unfortunately didn't feel more rested the next day. Also didn't think much of the service at b'fast the next day due to staff busy with a wedding guests party, in summary I thought lack of attention to details added up and left us a bit disappointed with the quality of our stay.
This was a return visit as we have always been very satisfied with our visits
Our room could do with an upgrade. Bed especially
The staff were excellent, friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, and very comfortable, with a lovely view. It was nice and quiet. The breakfast choices and standard of food was first class. As was the Al a Cart menu in the dining room.
The choice of food on the bar menu was quite limited. Still very good quality.
Bed linen/quilt are worn and have long-term stains and had 2 human hairs on the sheets
Friendly helpful staff, good food and nice restaurant. Also, room was quiet and comfortable.
Welcome at reception a little underwhelming but ok. Lovely large clean room. Had booked an evening meal for family that we hadn’t seen for a while. Had booked for 7.30pm . At 8.30 still no one had taken our order. When food arrived further problems. One of the party had sea bass which was more like a starter, two of us had the pie. Pastry was so hard I couldn’t cut it. One of the waiting staff came over and asked if there was a problem, she was very apologetic and offered to replace it. Second pie came out but the pastry was still not great. (The lady who dealt with us was very professional and kind but whoever was doing the cooking could have done with some improvement. Breakfast staff and food - lovely. We probably wouldn’t return based on the restaurant experience sadly as the hotel really is in a lovely location
Location ambience dog friendly staff food
Our room in need of a little renovation
Beautiful setting and surroundings. Room was clean and spacious. Huge comfy bed with soft bedding. Tasty breakfast. Couldn’t fault it.
Staff extremely accommodating. Excellent facility, food and location.
Breakfast starting at 8 am on a Saturday. I personally would have preferred a 7am breakfast due to work commitments
The best aspect of our stay was probably the restaurant, both for the evening meal and breakfast the following morning. The food and service were both excellent, but the evening meal genuinely was a surprise in quality, eating from the more reasonably- priced early bird menu as well.We were also pleased with our room, which was restful, comfortable and clean: the bathroom was spotlessly clean and towels a good size and condition. The advantages of the location became more apparent in bright sunshine next day, as we arrived in late afternoon on a Winter's day, when it was already dusk. The adjacent canal and ponds gave the hotel a feeling of being surrounded by a moat, which especially made breakfast in the restaurant a visual and memorable experience. The setting of Acton Trussell seemed to be in pleasant countryside which looked inviting for walks and wider exploration.
The M6 is within sight of the hotel, although the sound was not noticeable or intrusive within the hotel.
Our room was large with a huge comfortable bed. The bathroom was ,again, large and it was great to have the option of a bath with separate shower. It was also very clean.
The breakfast was adequate. I’m not a fan of buffet style cooked breakfasts as the food can sit around for a while before consumption. Fried eggs, in particular, should be cooked to order and not allowed to languish in a warmer.
Good room.Evening meal expensive and OK but not the quality I would expect for the price and service was slow.Breakfast OK.Most of the staff were good but the receptionists miserable. The location worked for my trip but satnav sent me on a wild goose chase.Although I did not have my dog with me they seem dog friendly.
Close to the motorway but in a beautiful village, and next to a canal - convenient but scenic. Old, and some slightly dated aspects to the room, but the bar and restaurant are great, and the food was excellent.
A bit dated, but in general not much I didn't like
The staff serving breakfast were very pleasant.
The room we were allocated was at a temperature of 27.5 Degrees Celsius when we opened the door, not ideal, it took a long time to cool down. When I told the Receptionist, she was not really helpful with this situation. At 2230hrs we were woken by guests in the room next door as their TV was at a ridiculous volume. I went down to Reception and dialled the night team number twice with no reply. I had to deal with the situation myself, knocking on the door of the other guest asking them to turn it down. We managed to get back to sleep until 0030hrs when guests in the room on the other side of us were talking very loudly on their way back to their room with no consideration for other guests. Finally at around 0600hrs a loud fan was put on, it would appear in the kitchen dining area which was near our room. As a result of these disturbances we had an appalling nights sleep. My husband and I said we would not stay at this hotel again. On checking out the Receptionist did not ask if we enjoyed our stay, interesting!
Location cleanliness
The bed was uncomfortable very bony
