- Lovely town with great pubs and shops. The room was comfortable and spacious and we had a very lovely evening meal there. Great breakfast too!
Cons -
- Road noise with window open.
- The only negative was an alarm that woke us at 4am in the hotel.... No-one in sight and rather scary. No explanation either. Otherwise a great place.
- Room 7 overlooked the rear car park which was generally quiet except when the bin lorry turned up at 730 and tipped three loads of bottles into the back. Also there were extractors and Aircon units for the kitchen situated outside just outside the bedroom windows all starting up at 7am with an almighty roar. Might be ok in winter when the bedroom window is kept shut. It had to be open for my visit as the weather was warm and there was no room aircon.Staff were very friendly but a little over stretched

It was a convenient stop over halfway from Blackpool to the New Forest. A good area opposite for the dogs to roam off lead. Fully fenced.
All was ok.
The manage was amazing. And the food very good
We didn’t realize we had to ask to have the room freshened and when we returned late it wasn’t. But the manager promptly brought us fresh towel and more coffee with a smile. I would definitely ask for a remodeled room next time the old one was clean but very dated
The staff were very nice and accommodating. We needed extra fans and a room change due to the road traffic. Our first room was right on the road and we had to keep the windows open due to the heat wave. The food was fabulous. I loved being able to eat right there. Breakfast lunch and dinner were all tremendous. The breakfast was included and was abundant. I had the Burrata salad for dinner and had to go back and eat it again for lunch the next day. Prices were very reasonable.
I really can't say I disliked something other than we stayed during a heat wave and the rooms were very hot.
Lovely hotel and gastropub in a quiet village. Food and drinks are excellent. Walking distance to the train station with just a short ride to Stafford, Shrewsbury or Birmingham.
Close to all ammenities
Booked two singles but was given a double. Luckily had another room to offer
Great staff, room could have done with a few more things like plugs, mirrors but all in all good value.
Breakfast is freshly cooked to order. I have the cooked vegan breakfast which is great. Evening meals are very good pub grub. The beer is well kept and the staff are very friendly. The pub is very dog friendly which is great.
On this occasion the restaurant service was slow for our late Sunday lunch. This is an exception; as usually the staff are very attentive.
Actually, everything. We stayed there before and last year the hotel became dated and tired. The new owner spruced it up and it looks much better now. The service was excellent; a mainly young team who know how to care for their customers.
Don't know: free beer?
Lovely pub and great meal. Convenient room with good facilities. Not enough pillows in the bedroom.
Convenient for a one Night stop over with dog. Service and food very good. Good parking facilities and excellent helpful staff.
Reasonably steep stairs to the bedrooms.
A convenient place to stop halfway from Blackpool to Bournemouth.
We prefer room number six, but was booked into room one which was smaller
Parking on site. Reasonable price with an excellent breakfast included. Room was comfortable. Bar and restaurant area were extremely busy but we managed to get a table for dinner and the food was excellent. Staff very friendly. Could not hear the noise from the bar in the room.
The quilts should have had a cover on them for hygiene purposes and spare pillows and blankets would have been nice.
Great place, had a bustling atmosphere. Was love music playing that evening too. Delicious dinner and breakfast. The manager was super helpful.
If options on the menu aren't available tell us when you give us the menu. We were told things weren't ready or not set, so either change wording of how you tell customers or be more organised with food prep. Some of the staff didn't know what was what, no one was aware we were coming down for breakfast and seemed surprised when we asked for the continental buffet. When things were raised they were addressed and sorted very well but would have been better if all staff were in the know.
A good location, very clean, with good food, welcoming and friendly staff, and dog friendly. Everything we needed to break our journey.
No complaints.
Breakfast was a bonus, we thought booking covered a continental breakfast only, however we had a cooked breakfast at no extra cost
We could not work tv or hesting , so we were moved to another room, superior
room - comfortable bed. plenty of tea bags and milk
appreciate this is an old building but the windows were covered in black mould. There was a gap between the windows and they wouldn't shut properly as the handle was broken off. Paint was peeling off the walls and ceiling in places. heated towel rail was cold. Couldn't get any channels on the TV
